I'll start with the good. The service was friendly and the vibe of the place feels nice. Plenty of options between ramen, noodles, and rice dishes, with protein of your choice. However, the option I chose was not good. I got the bowl-style beef + vegetables, added egg and tofu.
beef: actually bad, like it seems very fake and off-putting vegetables: fresh and oily sauce: very sticky and sweet without much flavor tofu: good for what it was, but i would prefer not fried marinated egg: very nice, gooey and tasty
I know there is potential here because I know japanese sauces can be better than this. But I would prefer "mall food" from Sarku Japan, than what I got.
I think I would have a better time asking for very light sauce going for a different protein, the chicken seemed higher quality, asking for less oil on the vegetables, cutting the tofu and getting two eggs.

The broth in the garlic tonkutsu ramen was pretty good and flavorful, but I did try a sip of the tantanmen my partner got too, and it had quite a weird edge to the flavor that other tantanmen broths I've had don't. Maybe a bit oily? I'm not sure. The egg was good! A little bit sweet. And the afternoon lemon tea I got was good. For the price, we likely won't be returning, but my partner and I both agreed: mid. Better meat would make it way more worthwhile! A good melt-in-your-mouth pork makes a ramen, and this...
Read moreStopped into Maki House in Cuyahoga Falls today and ordered some rolls and dumplings. The space is spotless and modern. It felt like it was a Japanese Chipotle. It has an open kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared. The menu is a nice size, offering sushi rolls, specialty rolls, ramen, teriyaki bowls, boba teas and a selection of appetizers.
I tried a spicy roll and a tempura shrimp roll, while my friend ordered the gyoza dumplings. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The staff was friendly, and I was greeted by Jason, the owner, a nice personal touch.
This location is fairly new, right on Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. Great food, clean atmosphere, and a team that...
