If you have gluten restrictions or any dietary restriction really, do not go here. They have a gluten free menu but even when you order something off of the menu they bring you something that looks similar to what you ordered but still containing gluten. If you don't know what it is suppose to look like gluten free then it will make you sick when you eat what they put in front of you and assure you that it is gluten free. The managers will actually argue with you that the food is gluten free and then when you read the menu to them they will act like you were wrong even though the menu completely contradicts what they are saying. Additionally they use shared fryers but will not disclose that to you unless you specifically ask them about it. On a positive note they serve you warm hamburger buns (udis) with butter when they bring bread out to everyone else.
The wait staff on the best days are pretty mediocre. I am constantly amazed at how many times they can mess up drink orders and get food orders completely wrong. They will do things like bring the cracked pepper on the serving tray with them to the table, place all of the soups and salads and then pick the tray up and walk away with the cracked pepper, having never asked if anyone wanted any or giving anyone the opportunity to ask for it. They have to go and pick the pepper up from its storage area and put it back. Why take the effort to get it if you aren't going to offer it.
Time wise it takes a minimum of one and a half hours on their best days when you have told them you are pressed for time because of meetings that are scheduled around the lunch hour. It normally runs around 2 hours for our group to get seated to the time we walk out the door and we don't order appetizers or deserts.
I want to clarify some things so that you understand that this is not a one time experience, that it is a constant. Because of work I have vendors that take my group out to lunch periodically. Most of the time we can convince them to go someplace with reasonable service but there are times where they are adamant that they want a nice steak place. My consistent experience with Salt Grass Steak house has been over the last 5 years about 6 times a year. On average they are a 1 star establishment and on their very best day they get 3 stars. The experience at this Salt Grass is not unique. I have visited others and the experience has been the same. They are a Landry's chain and it never ceases to amaze me at the completely different experience I receive at the Rain Forest Cafes that I visit. Same company totally different attitude from the managers,...
Read moreI hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern about an incident I observed during my recent visit to your establishment. As a frequent patron and someone who values the overall experience your restaurant provides, I feel compelled to bring this matter to your attention.
Throughout my visit, everything appeared to be running smoothly, and I was content with the service and food provided. However, towards the end of my experience, I noticed a troubling situation involving one of your employees. It was evident that the young lady was in distress, and another employee, an African American gentleman, was attempting to console her. I approached to inquire about her well-being, as it was apparent that something had transpired to upset her deeply.
Regrettably, the situation took an unsettling turn when I overheard what I believe to be the general manager, an older Caucasian with whiteish hair, addressing the African American employee in a manner that I found disheartening. The manager stated, "There’s a lot of stuff that needs to be taken care of in this restaurant. We need to be taking care of business, not dealing with her." This response, especially given the visibly distressed state of the employee, struck me as both distasteful and concerning.
As a psychiatrist, I cannot help but interpret the young lady's emotional state as indicative of a panic or anxiety attack. It deeply troubles me that the highest manager on duty did not appear to recognize or prioritize the well-being of an employee experiencing such distress. Mental health matters, and the well-being of your team should be a priority, especially in the challenging and demanding environment of the restaurant industry.
It is my sincere hope that this incident is not reflective of the overall culture and values of your establishment. However, as a long-time customer, I feel compelled to share my disappointment and concern. I have decided, based on this experience, that I will not be dining at this location again. It is essential for me to patronize establishments where the management demonstrates a genuine care for the welfare of their employees.
I urge you to consider the impact that such incidents can have on both your employees and the perception of your restaurant in the eyes of your patrons. Compassion, empathy, and addressing mental health concerns in the workplace are crucial components of a healthy and thriving business.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I sincerely hope that steps will be taken to foster a more supportive and compassionate environment for your valued...
Read moreI ate here a few times before not my number one steakhouse but there still good with room to grow. So I stopped in for lunch & a drink. Ok ok drinks lol. First always start off with an Old Fashioned. The first drink there was way to angostura bitters added to it. The bitters completely overpowered the whiskey, which is a no in my book. It took a moment to get the bartender’s attention (which is ok) to inform her of the drink. Since I drunk half of it already I ordered another and asked for only one splash of bitters and also ordered my favorite appetizer their “the crab cakes”. I ordered three of them and 6oz center cut prepared medium rare. The second drink came it was a bit better. About 23 minutes later my crab cakes arrived. They looked delicious and the amount of lump crab on top was just perfect. The first one I bit into was warm but delicious. The second was hardly even warm. No huge issue I’ll just take them home and eat them later on. 20 more minutes later the bartender came back to ask if everything was okay. I let her know about the temperature of the food. She apologized and asked for a moment. She finished another guest drink left came back with a side salad for that guest. Maybe be about 10 to 12 minutes later she came back and asked if I wanted anything else if not there’s you check in the shot glass. I asked her about the steak and she stated the kitchen may have looked over it give her a moment. I checked the ticket in the shot glass and it didn’t appear on it so I assume she didn’t put it in. 10 to 11 minutes with by and she came by to grab the plate I thought to maybe box up my meal. When she came back by I asked, what was going on? She was under the impression that I didn’t want the crab cakes nor the steak. I asked how? I did not get an answer she said she could fix it. I let her know not to please just close come out and if she could please add my LSC information to my check. She took my information I paid and still left a 20% tip. So let’s recap, drinks:not good; app: cold and only was able to eat one of the three and wasn’t able to take the rest home.; main dish:...
