These stars really need categories. The food here is excellent and tastes amazing and deserves 5 stars. The owner gets one star. One rude experience can really put a damper on things and end up in a single star. Why, you may ask? Here’s the story: We are a family that has been frequently eating here since March and we have invited friends over to have the food because it is that good. Our orders are usually fairly decent sized and we on occasion eat in the restaurant. Our online orders have frequently been wrong. The funny part is we ordered steak fajitas and got fish and shrimp and they were so good we started ordering that, but frequently we get steak fajitas instead of the shrimp and fish (which is about $5 more than the steak). They are both good and we like everything so no problem, we just deal with it and the sides of beans are usually refried even if we order whole. It’s not that important to say anything. However, a close friend who has a hard time chewing requested fish and shrimp fajitas and so we ordered it for two as well as three other meals. However, when we got home, one was fish and shrimp, and one was beef. My husband went back to the restaurant and Ruben gave him dessert. No big deal, my husband likes both fajita choices and dessert, so it wasn’t that important. We have ordered since then and then again, this Monday. The food was ordered online, and it was for the same friend of mine who prefers the fish and shrimp. When I got to the restaurant, I asked Ruben if it was the fish and shrimp fajitas, and he told me that it was. I spoke to him face to face. Feeling confidently reassured, I drove the food up to my friends and when we got to eat, it was steak fajitas. I was going to call right away, but my friends wanted to visit, and it couldn’t be fixed at that point anyway. So I figured I would call in the morning as I forgot the restaurant isn’t open on Tuesday. I didn’t get to call until my schedule allowed today (we caretake my two elderly parents). When I called, Ruben answered the phone and I told him what happened. His reaction was to ask me why I didn’t call right away that night and so I explained that I took to the food to my friends. Then comes the fun part: Ruben, “What time did you pick up the order?”, Me: “4:30”, Ruben: “so how far did you drive, four or five hours away? Or half an hour? I’m just trying to understand.” The sarcasm did not go unnoticed. He added, “We are open until 9.” So, I tried explaining that I was visiting my friends and got home late. The thing is, why does any customer need to defend themselves? I told him I took photos, he really didn’t seem to care whether we got the correct order or not. Recommendation(s): 1. Don’t order online if possible. 2. Dine in only and you most likely will get delicious and accurate meal choices. 3. If you opt to order online and pickup: Don’t be so picky as to expect the protein choice that you requested. I promised Ruben that I would leave a review, so here it is and a photo of beautiful steak fajitas for my friend who can’t chew steak. We enjoyed the experience while it lasted but I’m not supporting nor encouraging insipid banter and rude customer...
Read moreI try to support small businesses as much as possible however one of pet peeves is over priced items while the prices seem avg think theyre bit high for what youre actually getting.
A year ago i stopped. I was pretty sure had left a review but perhaps i didnt or got removed. Ive been to this place about 4-5 times max and hadn't been to it in the past year; decided to stop by to see if perhaps it had improved.
I honestly didnt see much improvement unfortunately.
On one of my first visits it was for luch and even thought the place was empty staff were not available to get me seater so the manager took over which was a plus as far as service.
However the food is just not to my liking or palette, think the food is either under cooked or overcooked in addition to plates having very little beef or chicken it seems they end being more like salads.
Tbh i havent ordered fajitas here or rarely as thats more tex-mex and usually best are in the chain. For fajitas without excess veggies mixed in but based on pictures that seems to run across al dishes here not only fajitas.
Now they could play on the "sustainable restaurant" and perhaps that works in this area which is great but in addition there's a serious lack of flavor or any seasoning whatsover.
2nd instance I recall it was similar case excess veggies , Dry rice and tasteless beans even though they had nice texture at least.
Ceviche wasnt to my liking had to customize it quite a bit to get any flavor with condiments and sauces and yet still not recommed as shrimp seemed pre cooked frozen. On top the tostada was drenched luckily had chips.
Manager aproached how everything was and ill be honest in an attept to have them perhaps conskder improbing but he wasnt too receptive to what i had to say andbecame defensive statingvnobody has complained and they do well. Which instated thats great but im stating since you asked and rice is bit dry and couldn't perceive much flavor even though did have some color. Now i dont necessarily rate on "authentic" more so is it cooked properly and does it have flavor ?
My last visit the plates are colorful however since food is not seasoned much and food is not sauteed or beef seared some pieces didn't even seem properly cooked hence no flavor. Theres really fine line between juicy properly cooked and simply tender soft not fully cooked but these pieces were chewy not fully cooked. I seperated the bell papers to demonstate how little chicken that dish had and even though had ate 3-5 pieces that chicken was diced so small theres no reason for it to be uncooked. Take a couple extra minutes and get it right.
Anyways thats the rant the meat in the molcajete was good and cooked properly but mentiomed something was just luke warm. Point of molcajete is to keep food hot amd that molcajete eas not got so it will abosorb the heat from the food. The chips were also perhaps tad stale reheated giving inpressionnof fresh and while it was very subtle not a great impression tobstart out.
I really hope they strive to do better seems perhaps they have the niche customers amd thats great.
For the pricing and area and quality theres several other...
Read moreI went for lunch with a couple friends. I ordered queso to start and ordered the spinach enchiladas for my meal. I can’t eat meat, so I asked our server if there was any, just to be sure. She assured me there was not. When I received my dish, there was green sauce and a big chunk of pork on top. I said I can’t have any meat, so maybe if we can get one with the cheese or just plain. She said ok, goes to the back and came back out and said that if they make a new one, I will be charged. I said then never mind, I’m fine and had to forgo my lunch. We got our ticket and the enchiladas were on the bill. I explained to her that we did not get the enchiladas, she said we still have the plate in the back if you want it. I said no and thought it was strange that the plate was kept. She said do you want to talk to the manager, I said ok. A small man came out from the back with the plate and said there’s no meat. I looked and you could see where he had picked it off. I said, well it’s been removed, you can see that. He tells me I can take it to go. He begins talking about all the different sauces, a lot of jibberish and then finally says he can take it off the bill just this once. He starts poking in the food and then finally leaves. I was amazed at how rude and condescending this cook was towards me. Won’t be...
