Dined out for dinner: Made reservations via open table for 7:15 PM on a Friday night. We arrived a little late at 7:20 PM We checked in with the hostess and we were given zero information on when our table will be ready. We were not given an estimated time. It appeared that no estimated times could be given for reservations. The hostesses were very unhelpful and were tasked with doing way too may things at the door. Not helpful in determining if it was worth waiting or not. We were finally texted at 7:45pm that our table was ready. Server: Served by Andre - very polite but IMO walked away way too quickly, was not personable nor was there indication that he was interested in making it a memorable experience. He approached the table in a timely manner. We were not offered any specials nor any suggested drinks. He was speedy with our nonalcoholic drinks. He was glad to get samples of wine requested. Samples came is rocks glasses which was weird. I will say the wine pour was decent. 👌🏻 He kept our table clear and free of dirty dishes and trash which is awesome to me. When we were done with our dinner, he offered and brought boxes AND a bag. I am happy that this server had the forethought to think that we have to carry this to the car and he got it without us prompting. Thank you! It’s the little things I appreciate! Food: The food came out quickly and correctly. The side Caesar salad consisted of plenty of dressing lots of cheese and tasty croutons. Wasn’t impressed with the burger - plain Jane, nothing to write home about. Way too many onions in the sautéed veggies that came with the Wood Grilled Salmon. Salmon not dry, but I would say not really flavorful. The baked potato was overcooked to the point only the direct center was edible. Social Distancing: When we first checked in, we were told that we were not able to wait in the front. So we headed outside. But we observe that there were others waiting in the small vestibule. We were not able to open up the double doors in order to get inside without being close to them, definitely within 6 feet, door one door was completely blocked by people waiting in this area. No one from the restaurant corrected this. Bill: The bill came to us expeditiously. We were taken back that the glass of wine was a whopping $14! Now I understand why it was a hefty pour... Andre didn’t ask me if I wanted the larger glass he just went ahead and brought it. And charged us for it. I don’t really care for that tactic. Next time ask the customer if they want the smaller pour or the larger pour. As far as the overall cost, the price was fairly on point. Andre was expeditious with taking the bill, and cashing us out. We decided that if we have a hankering for Firebirds, we are going to go to the Firebirds down in Fredericksburg. Our experience overall was just not enough to bring us back.

My wife and I usually come for the Prime Rib and salad. We come as often as once a month. Today we came for some light fare. We ordered the pretzel with beer cheese for an appetizer. It was excellent. My wife had the double diamond pineapple martini and she loved it too. See first photo for appetizers. Problems however were right around the corner for the main course. I ordered the tenderloin salad and my wife ordered the New York strip; both medium rare. They arrived soon enough, but they were both basically raw. We had them take them back. While waiting for their return, I lamented on how this is the second time in a row that I've had my tenderloin steak served raw. What baffles me is that, at least for my steak, its served cut into pieces, so the cool can see that it's not medium rare. And this is a steakhouse, so I think its reasonable that they would be better at cooking steaks. In any case, when they brought them back, my steak on my salad was fine. My salad did not look fresh or crisp and was lacking any color expected for a fresh salad. The blue cheese was overpowering. As for wife's, it was still slightly south of medium rare. In the interest of not waiting anymore, she kept it. I did not have a chance to take a photo of the first time they came out, but the second photo shows our entrees. They were pleasant at both seating and in service. Obviously since we had problems, they increased their attentiveness. But it seemed genuine. When I asked for the check, without my prompting or anything, the manager informed us that she did comp the entrees. So they handled it properly and again, they were polite about it. They do offer a military discount. Overall, if they would just get their grilling better, I would rate them much higher. If there were half stars, us rate them a 3.5 instead of a 3.

(Look long story short, reserve a table and go spend your money there)

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill should be rewarded. Servers are eager to provide patrons with the upmost care in service. Their unique menu, bursting with mouthwatering selections never disappoints. The chef sooths the soul of insatiable patrons with a single bite. The bartender is a chemist that creates a playground of flavors packed with a punch. Their service paired with the food and atmosphere is a siren’s song to empty your pockets. Upon entering the heavenly gates of Firebirds, customers are welcomed with an enormous fireplace and backdrop of exposed brick. Above it, as a mantle, are hundreds of bottles of wine organized by type and year; any of which can be called on to indulge. The bar is stocked with layers of various liquors brilliantly lit with iridescent colors; all of which are rippling behind each bottle compelling patrons to have just one drink. Minds of those eager to order might begin to scramble as they realize how remarkable their experience will be. Snapping back into reality, the host will kindly guide customers to the seat of their choosing. Within moments, a server-all of which are not being compensated enough for how deeply they care about a customer’s experience- will kindly provide menus and drink options. The servers truly understand how to read their clients. Not once do they ignore a starving patron in need of aid. Upon ordering, patrons are served a loaf of bread. Holding both ends and pulling the loaf apart the surface crackles. The inside, soft and malleable to the touch emanates warmth. Instantaneously the loaf disappears absorbed by the consumer. Servers -of course in conjunction with the chef- will time the arrival of a consumer’s meal to the completion of the bread and refilled drink. The servers present a meal that penetrates the nostrils of neighboring tables and waters the mouth of the soul who will conquer it. Customers will find themselves indulging in the essence of their meal. The care, freshness and technique of the efforts forged by not only by the chef, but the farmer who dedicated years perfecting the growth of the legumes consumed today are all made apparent to those enthralled by the cuisine. Licking the crumbs off the plate, consumers are left with the culmination of complex layers that is the experience presented by Firebirds. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill has repeatedly exceeded the demands of its patrons. Each visit leads to the liberation of poor considerations administered by neighboring institutions. Their ability to provide individuals with stratums of atmospheric scenery, catered service, and soul soothing meals, establishes a caliber of excellence not even met by Michelin rated...

I recently reached out to Firebirds Catering in dire need of a caterer as my caterer fell through days before my big event. I can honestly say I was lead to the right place at the right time! I was immediately introduced to Kat Anderson, Firebirds Managing Partner, and master of all things! When I say Kat pulled us through a difficult time, she truly did! Within 1.5 hrs we ironed out a menu that would accommodate approximately 100 guests (including adults, children and several vegans) and we did just that! I was able to take my time and sample menu items I hadn’t tried before, just to be sure we wanted to include them as part of our event menu.

It was such a great time and felt like I’ve known Kat forever! She put my mind at ease for my event and for that I’m forever grateful. She was able to send me the menu and quote right away and gave me the option to sit down to talk it over with my spouse, to get his opinion as well. That really meant a lot. My husband and I were able to make a few changes and finalize the quote within a couple of days. Her communication within that short timeframe was impeccable and very much appreciated. She really took care of us and our needs during this special event.

The day of the event she ensured that the food was delivered in a timely fashion and we had all we needed (eg chaffing kits, etc) for the duration of the three hour event. We couldn’t have been more delighted! Our guests were so pleased with the food options and everything we selected for the menu was an absolute HIT - including wings, deviled eggs, chicken pasta, steak penne, strawberry shrimp salad, baby back ribs, salmon, chicken tenders, Mac & cheese, bread, fruit, sweet tea, lemonade and a chef’s choice vegan dish.

Many thanks to Kat and her team (that she treasures immensely) for putting us - the customer - first! It truly showed in everything that was provided and I can’t be more thankful. I would highly recommend Firebirds Catering for all of your upcoming...
