Cafe de France🇫🇷 is a lovely restaurant in North Dallas that serves up traditional yet affordable French cuisine. What brought me here? I originally found this place through Uber Eats during Covid. I have always ordered breakfast and had it delivered. This was my first time dining at the restaurant.
The dining room was very quaint and cozy. I loved the ambiance. I dined in for brunch around 1130am. During this time it was steady, but not too busy. I loved the calmness of the restaurant. You can have conversations without yelling. That was nice and I really appreciated that.
For my first visit, I started things off with the Candied Bacon appetizer. I must admit that I am a big bacon lover, and I usually have bacon with many meals. The bacon was sweet and peppery. I usually like this dish because of the brown sugar used. Unfortunately, it tasted more like plain sugar . So if you like sweet bacon, you won’t mind a bit. 😉I do wish that it was a thicker cut, but it was still yummy. I tried a mimosa but didn’t really enjoy it. Not sure if it was not enough oj or a bitter oj. I prefer my mimosas on the sweeter side. This one tasted really dry. I tried a second mimosa with a different champagne but I had the same outcome. My friend liked their Bloody Mary. My entree was the Western Omlette. It came with potatoes and a bread. I substituted my toast for a Banana Nut Waffle. I loved the crispness of the Home Fried Potatoes. The waffle was tasty. The nut to pancake ratio was balanced. I often hate when restaurants put a whole bag of nuts on top. 😡 Still, everything was hot and fresh.
I had a very pleasant experience at Cafe De France. I always enjoyed the food on delivery. However, their food was even better dining in than online. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast. I noticed several good lunch /dinner dishes on the menu. The service was welcoming and quick. Just how I like it. I can’t wait to go back Cafe De France. If you are looking for a good french meal, please...
Read moreI haven’t been to this place in a while and thought it be good to go back again today. However, when I went with my family after being seated soon after the waiter asked what we wanted to drink, but it was at that moment that he also began to to get impatient. It also appeared that they had been understaffed yet that wasn’t the case, as there were other waiters there but they didn’t seem to care and help. This overall resulted in poor service being provided.
Additionally, I ordered Buttermilk Pancake Combo, but the food I received was subpar. The eggs were alright but in all honesty making eggs at home would be better. The sausage was the best part. I’m not saying it was the best i ever had, but in comparison to the rest of the food, it was good. The pancakes were not what I expected though. I don’t know who this was meant to fool, but it was very clear that the pancakes were made using old flour, as was indicated by the taste. They were also presented as if they were over cooked, having the better looking side on the bottom. What I ordered to drink was Freshly Squeezed OJ, yet what I received was Tropicana OJ with pulp. I can’t necessarily prove that it was Tropicana OJ with pulp aside from saying that I saw the waiter pour it into the glass he gave me. Yet I can mention that the taste was the same as it, with the color being the same and as those who have made fresh OJ you’ll know that the color is different that that in a bottle but in this case it wasn’t.
The atmosphere isn’t that bad the majority of the people that go here has changed since I last ate here being full of mainly elderly people. However, this could be a factor into the quality of food. In no offense to anyone it is a scientifically proven fact that our senses degrade as we get older including taste. If the company knows their demographic which in this case is the elderly they can lower there food quality with them not noticing a difference.
I would not recommend going here, and I for one will not...
Read moreThis is a quaint little restaurant with a big letter sign on the side. It does remind you of a little French café from the interior. The first thing you notice upon walking in the door is a large display of yummy looking cakes, candies and cookies.
To the left is your little café. Our server was most excellent.
My husband ordered the special, which was eggs and pork chop. I ordered the buttery croissant omitting the egg. He had coffee and I had tea. (An herbal selection would have been nice. If the owner/manager is reading. Not everyone can have coffee and many do not like decaffeinated coffee. A simple herbal tea that most people would like would be a fruit or flower tea. Peach tea, or something of the like. I do hope you will look into it).
My husband LOVED the tender and juicy porkchop and was pleased his eggs were a perfect sunny side up. There was a dipping sauce for his pork chop I seriously thought he was going to finish out licking his fingers. He did use his butter knife.
The croissant was probably one of the best I have ever had. This is like, my thing. I LOVE croissants. This was made from scratch at location. It was crispy and flaky in all the right places. It did indeed have a buttery flavor. We both ordered hash browns. Even the toast was delicious. The only thing that could have made this breakfast better would have been home made jelly.
The place was pristine clean, albeit the carpet looked very old and worn which could add to the quaint-ness of the building. Personal preference would have been a stone floor pieced together and mortars but, very easy to understand why they did not go this direction. I hope in the future if they ever do renovate, they consider something like that. The floors will never look worn. I highly recommend this place for breakfast.
I have a feeling everything coming from their kitchen is excellent and the staff is fantastic. (The missing star is ONLY because of the carpet. This place could easily be a 5 star...
