The food is good. The vibe is good. The location is great. BUT Read below for why it is 3 stars, not 4 or 5 stars. It's upscale and quality sushi and dim sum. That said, we've had two bad experiences here worthy of noting for management. The first time we came, they told us the food was behind by 30-45 minutes due to short staff. Onesan is affiliated with Republic next door--which is GREAT. We left and went next door as we had a hungry kid. The second time we visited, the front staff was very friendly, and they were less busy. Let me say, I realize that MOST sushi restaurants do not accommodate kids that well. Plus, if you are going to spend $75 a person on food and perhaps equal that on drinks--it's not cheap. Few folks bring kids, but sometimes you do and this is a restaurant in the middle of 15 private schools with families all around!! And, MOST Asian restaurants have some form of kids menu, but not Onesan. Nothing of any kind to help, and they seemed offended when we asked. Similarly priced Jia Asian, a few miles south, does a fantastic job of catering to kids. Kids might only make up 10% of their total customers, but if you want a nice dinner out and you have your 6, 8, 10,12 or 14-year old--they don't each much sushi. AND kids menus do not make money--but you will lose adults and families with kids if you can't figure out something folks. Come on... ||| The second item, separately. While we really like the sushi menu and food--the dim sum and other menu is just not clear. We ordered a very tasty-sounding shrimp item that sounded light... but when it arrived it was caked in sauce and was deep deep fried. We did not eat it. The server took it away without saying or asking anything. Did she not notice OR not care? That's bad service. That should be her last day at an upscale restaurant in Preston Hollow. We did not need a full credit for that item-but, please look at the fact we did not touch it and say something. We paid the entire tab for 2 adults (which was $240 with tip.) We may return someday--but no rush. (NOTES, The Loss of 1 star for the server being totally distracted talking to the bartender and not paying attention to us or what we needed, which made her seem aloof. AND a 1-star deduction for having no concept of a kids option of any kind. In fact, they made us to feel demanding when asking and still charged 100% for each attempt at an item to work.) If management reads this, I am happy to share details. I want to help make this a great...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. As a sushi lover, I was very excited to try this new local sushi place that just opened recently and so close to my home. Sat at sushi bar that is constructed so low that the fish area could not be seen unless you got out of your chair to stand up to see the fish in the sushi case. I am 5’6” tall. Poor construction. Owner needs to raise the sushi table so that people sitting at the sushi bar can see the fish in the sushi case without getting out of their chairs. Been to hundreds of sushi bars in my life. This is the first time the sushi sitting area is constructed BELOW the sushi display case! Waited over 20 min to get someone to wait on us for the drinks. Then waited about the same for a spider hand roll and glass of wine. Wait staff needs to STOP with the overused words “Of Course”. Very annoying. Sushi chefs at the sushi bar were great but only had 3-4 fish to offer for actual sushi/sashimi. All other items could be found on the menu. Fresh salmon was outstanding. Japanese Red Snapper soaked in salt was not fresh. Yellow tail sushi was fair. Hopefully the management I’ll wake up and pay attention to reviews for this very hee establishment! Terrible service for a brand new place. Try Ku sushi, Ino at Preston Royal or Asian Mint at Forest/75. Much larger Better selection of sushi sashimi with other sushi places within a mile of this place. Better service at places mentioned and you are not seated BELOW the sushi bar! Should not have to endure such terrible slow service We will...

All the dumplings are phenomenal, crafted with delicate precision and filled with balanced, delicious fillings.
