Another beloved, longtime classic Dallas restaurant has been ruined by a new owner, a German investor who has made it clear that he is more interested in profit than in food.
El Fenix always had the lightest, freshest tortilla chips. No more. Since the new owner changed suppliers, the chips are now heavy and stale. El Fenix always had the most delicious chili con carne cheese enchiladas. No more. Since the new owner changed the recipe, the chili con carne is ground beef in oil – so unappetizing, and such a complete departure from their delicious classic chili con carne enchiladas. Why oh why would a new owner abandon the signature dish of El Fenix?! Such a decision shows no respect for the restaurant's devoted customer base.
The previous owner of El Fenix was generous. You could have as much salsa as you wanted and free refills of soda pop. No more. Since the new owner took charge, customers can only have one tiny container of salsa per person. Anything beyond that will cost extra. And now, a refill of soda pop will cost you 50 cents.
The servers at this restaurant are warm and hard-working, always kind to customers. They say that the new owner comes in, criticizes what he doesn't like, and won't even speak to them. Most of the servers have worked at the restaurant for many years. The quickest way to destroy a restaurant's inviting ambiance is for the owner to show the long-dedicated servers no respect.
To take charge of a beloved Dallas restaurant with such a long history and such well-established recipes… and to change what people liked the most about it… is transparently egotistical and greedy. These changes reveal that the new owner cares nothing about his employees, his customers or the classic recipes that he inherited from this historic restaurant. Sadly, he has lost this lifetime customer – and no doubt others will follow my departure to the numerous providers of excellent Mexican food in this city.
RIP, El Fenix. I'll be eating Mexican food with your competitors now, not with you. Not even on cheap...
Read moreI worked for this company in 2017 at the branch of the northwest Highway. I had a horrible experience in that restaurant. They ran me because I did not do what they wanted me to do. the two supervisors who were at that time made a plot against me the supervisor was Samantha rocha and the supervisor Armando Campos the supervisor forced me to sign a warning and as I did not want to be rushed at that time they treated me like a criminal since I did not do anything wrong, they did not even give me the opportunity to clarify anything or give me another chance They discriminated against me and the worst thing was that they ruined me financially and emotionally. They did not mind having run and they almost took me out without consideration. They only care about money. and exploiting yourself there is a lot of preference with certain people if they don't like you they start making life impossible for you to get off work try to contact the general supervisor But he never answered the calls, they are very despotic, the supervisors only understand each other the restaurant and the service is only a false appearance because nobody knows the abuses What happens some workers when they do not like you or say things that do not suit them would not have the need to say these things if they had not had a terrible experience in This restaurant They are unprofessional, each person deserves respect and consideration in their jobs because in case they pay you little and they want you to work as an animal and earn a misery without benefits or increases Of salaries in that year when I was fired from this job I had a very bad time I almost stayed on the street because of them they set me up to run and make me sign a warning and of course Accept they ran me to the kitchen chef who was Manuel tavarez had something to do with all this because in that place they have their preferences with friends and coworkers this is unfair I do not...
Read moreHorrible experience, we actually got sat pretty quickly. Especially since it was spring break and lunch time on Wednesday. Also immediately almost there was a man who came over and brought chips and salsa. We thanked him and he walked away. Maybe 5 minutes. Went by. Still no server. No drinks, no water. Nothing. We start to notice the chips taste different, it's like they're super hard. Not stops like they usually are and crisp like an el Fenix chip, We all know what they taste like. We thought maybe they were just fried wrong or overcooked so we just asked for another bowl of chips. When those were all so hard we singled him to stop and he said hold on it went and got a manager and the manager told us that chip machine is broken and then that's just how they all will be because that's how they're having to fry them right now and they come out hard. Okay, that's fine. Can we get some tortillas? We did not get tortillas till after our food came out before my kids food. Move to finally get my two daughters tacos. My youngest daughter had a soft taco and the grease was just sitting there. It was pouring off. Which a different came over to the table this time and said that's how the meat always is. Same with my mother's food which she sent back. It was never offered anything else . Never offered a free dessert. Anything. Never once apologize for our experience or anything. Everyone was rude. There wasn't a server checking on us. We will not be coming back probably to this location or any. What happened to the customers always right? Even when they're not, I work in the industry and this is not how you handle a customer complaint. Highly disappointed. We still tipped our server. Hopefully she realizes she should go somewhere else where she can make money because some people don't tip the server when they have bad experiences even if it's not the...
