Let me start by saying tonight was our first night to try Fajita Pete's in Lakewood. We will be back!
The EXCEPTIONAL : Bryan. You took our order over the phone. My name Casey. You used my name several times during the order. Having been in fine dinning before, this was an excellent way to connect. You were hospitable and made jokes during the ordering process. Congratulated me on my first order and telephonically high five me when my card went through. Really made my day that such a person could love their job as much as I do.
The GREAT: We ordered chicken quesadillas. It came with fresh guacamole and pico. Yum. We also ordered fajitas for one, chicken and steak combo. Chicken was wonderful and it also came with fresh guacamole, amazing, thin tortillas and a half blistered jalapeño pepper. Super yum.
Chips and salsa were fresh and great. My boyfriend had to add salt to the chips. See below.
The OKAY: The steak part of the fajitas. Big disclaimer here - I have high blood pressure so I could only have one piece of steak. Tender, juicy, and ripe with salt. Lots of (lime?) salt. My boyfriend loved the steak. Way too salty for me.
We got a half gallon of frozen margs. Not too sweet but not the best to-go margs we've had. Do yourselves a favor with a top floater from your bar at home. Definitely worth getting though as it makes for an icy concoction below a 1 once floater.
The BAD: the rice and beans. Holy cow. What's going on here? Everything was so good until these. These were bland to the both of us. And not just because we like some heat. I hate to say but I work for a hospital system. We would only feed these type of sides to those with bleeding ulcers. Super blah.
In short, this will be a go-to for us. I will ask if they can sub the beans and rice for more guacamole and pico next time. And Bryan, I will be prepared for more banter...
Read moreDriven by this place a few times and have wanted to try it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the hype. The order experience was good via the app. No issues or problems there. However, once home, I realized they didn’t give me any chips with my guacamole. Not sure if this was just an over sight or if you have to order them separately but I ordered the medium guac which essentially went to waste as there was nothing to eat it with. The meat overall was just ok. It lacked flavor and tasted a little old and over cooked. Granted, I ate a very late lunch (3:30) on a Saturday but it was still disappointing. The charro beans have a nice touch with some fajita beef in them but unfortunately it had the same lack of flavor as the fajita meat so it was just kind of meh. The only saving grace to the meal was the churros. They were both crunchy and soft and came with some tasty honey sauce to sweeten them out even more. Overall it wasn’t a horrible experience and the staff was friendly but the food just wasn’t something I’ll be craving...
Read moreI was really excited about the addition of Fajita Pete’s for Lakewood, I hadn’t eaten at one but was excited for something new. Sadly my experience hasn’t been very good. I have been there three times since it opened and 2 out of the 3 times have gone wrong. The first time I ordered the fajitas for one and went home and my order was missing the tortillas. The second time was fine. The third time was tonight, my husband picked up the food and brought it home…we ordered the fajitas and quesadillas for the kids. The fajitas were missing all the things, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce. I did call to let them know, but it’s hard because I wasn’t going to drive back for the missing items.
Please Fajita Pete’s try harder to check the bags for all the items that need to be in an order. It’s very disappointing to be excited for dinner and then get home and not have everything you paid for. Let be honest, for $50+ for fajitas you should be a bit...
