Hi Mei Express
Tried this place out for the first time on a Thursday evening around 5:45 PM. Food didn’t arrive until 6:45 PM which was within the expected 50-60 minutes for delivery via UberEats. Food was packaged nicely - layered with cardboard between the food & also wrapped with plastic outside the paper bag. The order was completed correctly with no items wrong and all the items were as ordered. Food arrived cold/room temperature.
Spring rolls - Soggy. Pretty empty inside. Veggie only. Very salty without sauce. Even salter with sweet and sour sauce. Probably one of the worst spring rolls I’ve had.
Dumplings - soggy, despite being fried. Not much filling on the inside. Pretty bland. Not inedible, but I definitely would not get these again.
Orange chicken - this dish actually arrived hot. Soggy. Chewy. Mushy? Not much flavor. Served with broccoli, which was over cooked. The dish is drowning in watery bland sauce.
Fried rice - Very bland & soggy. Despite having peas, carrots, onion, & having a “fried” color, it’s surprisingly very bland for what it looks like - almost like they put food coloring for the color instead of frying it. This one arrived cold cold, like it was place in the fridge and not heated up.
Combo Lo Mein - Bland. Beef was cooked decently - not dry. Chicken was pretty good - moist. Shrimp was insanely overcooked - driest shrimp that wasn’t actually “dried”.
Overall, incredibly disappointed. very large discrepancy in temperatures. Food is very bland. All fried things were soggy. I would not recommend & I would...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating here, but after getting food to go, and trying it once I got back to my hotel, I realized it was not at all what I expected from a four 4.5+ restaurant. I ordered vegetable and tofu fried rice and hot and sour soup. The fried rice was so bland that even after three packet of soy sauce, I still could get more than a quarter of the way through. The vegetables taste and look like they were briefly steamed and then just tossed with some rice. And to call anything in the dish fried would be a huge stretch. The tofu was supposed to be fried as well but was super squishy and did not have a great flavor.
Then the hot and sour soup…it was not spicy at all and like the fried rice, it was very flavorless. I made my husband try both before giving my opinion in case I was being unfairly critical but he did not like it either.
I hate write less that perfect reviews, because it can hurt small business but I also hate wasting money on food and I feel this is the only avenue to provide the...
Read moreOur entrees were good (although I wasn't a fan of the spring rolls that were tasteless and mushy) but too many other variables for me to want to come back and eat in.
Dining room was cute and very clean and the employees were friendly and helpful but everything was served in/on styrofoam boxes and no silverware, just super flimsy/cheap plastic forks which made eating our dinner difficult at best. You can order off the menu (which we did) or go thru a cafeteria style line and pick and choose.
Plus it was a good 80+ degrees in the dining room and no glassware either....no bottled condiments...only packets of soy sauce, mustard, etc...only canned or bottled drinks which was a let down...I felt like I had to ration my drink to make it last thru the meal or go back up and have to buy another can/bottle. Iced tea in a proper glass or even a to-go cup would have been nice.
We decided if we return it will only be for take-out...
I did get this funny fortune cookie...
