The Taco Spot - Mockingbird — Restaurant in Dallas

My first time in Dallas and me and my bf were looking for some dinner, we came along this spot online and the pictures looked amazing and the reviews here look decent. We went in no one greeted us or even look at us. No one tried to take our order and mind you it was 7:30 so enough time before they closed. Got my food and my birria tacos were so disappointing , no flavor but it tasted like the meat and consommé were sitting there for days!! My bfs burrito tasted so bad, advertised with refried beans and he got whole beans a crap ton of rice and the meet was burned with that you couldn’t even tell if it was marinated. As if the meat was sitting there all day and reheated. New York trucks has better food and that saying something. Only thing good was the red salsa that numbed my tongue from the weird after taste both dishes gave us. We ended up going to In n Out which is something since we wanted Mexican. As a Mexican myself pls skip this spot. Not worth the money at all sadly. If you’re willing to travel go to Tacos Doña Lena they’re our go to spot and one of the owner remembers us and greets us no matter how busy or lol not...

I genuinely can’t believe just happened. I am in the service industry actually at 2 restaurants and we wouldn’t do this to anyone weather we are ready to go or not if someone pulls up at 8:59 we have to make their food. They showed horrible service today and I normally wouldn’t leave a negative review but after I left a good review last time and drive 25 min from grapevine just to eat here and make sure I made it in before they closed this was really unprofessional. The same girl that helped me last time just ignored me at the door and continued to wipe down the tables. They close at 9pm their doors were locked at at 8:43 when I pulled up. They don’t close until 9pm so why would you close early and you are just inside waiting until 9 for you to leave. I understand being ready to go but you do pre closing while still serving customers. What I ordered vs what I got 💀. They really gave me some light skinned birria tacos

I ordered 3 birria tacos w/ rice and beans.

Let’s start with the good:

The beans are the standout for sure. Good flavor and texture.

The okay:

Rice had decent flavor, but slightly gritty the green salsa tastes pretty decent despite being watery

The bad:

You have to pay over phone with your card. I rarely trust the quality of a business that does that. birria tacos were soggy upon pick up and had ZERO flavor. I didn’t even know that was possible. I got there a couple minutes after my order was finished too. consomé had a hint of flavor, but you HAD to dip the tacos in it or you got no flavor at all. Every where else I’ve been Consomé has been a supplement, not the only source of flavor.
