The pictures of this location are not of this building. This building is a smaller shack like building with no room for dining or tables or Dj booth as shown in the picture. I placed a pick up order at this location by mistake trying to reorder from Jamaica Cook Shop. I arrive thinking I was in the wrong location because the picture is totally not the building. I was still excited like okay this is a new place and I’m sure they are good. My son and I went in and waited about 5-10 minutes and ringed the bell but no response. We went back to the car and waited 10 more minutes and then returned to see if anyone was back to the restaurant. Finally a lady came out telling the man that was working on his car by the building that she had to go to catch the train. They continued to speak about the employee having to leave and the man working on the car outside stated said she placed her order with junior. They finally address us and spoke and said they are waiting on junior for my oxtail order. Junior came and apologized and we received our food.
These ox tails so Tough and salty. I paid $19 dollars for these oxtails I will still hoping that the food was atleast tender and good. I would say with the customer service not being the best I definitely wouldn’t have mind if the ox tails...
Read moreTLDR: If your looking for Caribbean food around the DFW metroplex.. this place should be the last resort. Try Elaine's or Caribbean Cabana before coming here.
This restaurant has the 'hole in the wall' look down to a T. But dont let the aesthetics fool you, the food here costs. I was happy to see they sale imported products like Malt and coco bread available to buy but $5 for one bottle of malt and $4 for one portion of coco bread.. like I said dont let the aesthetics fool you on the prices. The beef patty at $5 was reasonable except it price was listed for $4 on the board! And the biggest crime of all, they sale Arizona Big cans for $4!! The price is on the can! Arizona has been working trying to keep the price on the cans to 99¢ and here is the store marking them up by $3!. I am going to go snitch after posting this review.
Anyway, I ordered a beef patty because the 2 chicken patties on the rack were burned, made me wonder why even have them out. I also got a side of plantains which either needed sugar if they were trying to be sweet or salt if they were supposed to be normal fried plantains.
Best place nearest the DFW metroplex for Carribbean seems to be The Island Spot at 309 W Jefferson Blvd, if you dont mind straying away from the...
Read moreI work downtown, and decided that I wanted something savory so I decided to try this place for the first time. I saw the menu beforehand so I knew what I wanted before I arrived. I’m used to the lack of pleasantries from this sort of establishment I wi wasn’t offend when I didn’t receive the smile that I had given when I entered returned to me.
I placed my order and got the oxtail with curry chicken $40. When I told the guy what I wanted he asked , “ how much does it say it is , $30?” I replied, “ it’s says $40” he says “ok” and goes to back to prepare my plate. While up front I see some coconut oil and a Jamaican Ting and decided to put those on the counter so that they can be added to my order.
The guy returns to the front and adds my total…….
$78 …….. 😳 ?????
Im still in shock and completely lost on how that came to be.
I didn’t argue nor protest . I simply paid and left.
The food was great but obviously there is some sort of dishonesty going on here.
My food was $40 I got a 8oz bottle of coconut oil And a 8oz Jamaican Ting.
And I left spending nearly $100.
I’m not sure if this is regular practice here but more than won’t be back here.
I love supporting small businesses however I can’t support dishonest...
