FOOD IG: @northtx.gemz šŸ’WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: a hidden gem I found out through @eatwithalysa! A quick bite to have when walking around the Dallas Farmers Market. šŸ’WHAT I ORDERED: • Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) • Knom Jeeb (Pork & Shrimp Dumplings) šŸ’ PRICE: $21.11 + $3 tip šŸ’ THE VIBE: casual open seating. Very clean which is something I definitely account for because I know it’s a lot of effort to keep a restaurant clean. šŸ’ WOULD I COME BACK? Yes. •••• Overall Rating: 10/10 - Definitely a solid and delicious Thai food place that you can just pop in at any time and grab a quick bite. One of the first things I noticed is that the restaurant was very organized and tidy, including the restroom! - I’ve never had these two Thai dishes but wanted to try them and I was pleasantly surprised. The dumplings were scrumptious and I believe had water chestnuts so they had a slight crunch but the meat was the right amount of chewiness and the soy garlic sauce on the bottom of the dumplings was so flavorful. - The coconut soup was amazing!!!! Not sweet at all and the coconut flavor was very subtle. I asked for a side of rice it usually doesn’t come with it but honestly the soup would’ve been even better without the rice because it takes away from the depth of flavor. - I believe at this Thai restaurant you just adjust the spice level to your liking because there were 3 types of spice on each table you could add to your dishes. I decided to add some chili paste/oil and flakes to each of the dishes and it was perfect! - Both of these dishes were made really well and felt like a warm hug eating them. You can tell this place pays attention to their food!

The food was so good I came here twice in one weekend!!! My niece had been eyeing this place for awhile and I'm so glad she chose this place for her birthday dinner. I got the crab fried rice which comes spicy. The crab was perfectly cooked and the rice was amazing. They top it with scrambled eggs. I paired it with a glass of red wine. They have white wine and beer as well. My niece got the shrimp pad Thai and it was also really good!! She had the purple tea which was a little too sweet for me but she liked it. The second time I came I ordered the crab fried rice again (creature of habit here ). But I also got the dumplings which were delicious!!! You order at the front then get seated. It's a small location in the middle of downtown dallas near the farmers market. Very cute indoor seating. They have patio seating as well. Free parking is available in a nearby parking garage because who likes to actually park in downtown dallas. Not me! Will definitely hit this place up again!!!

I spent about a month in Isaan province of Thailand about 15 years ago, returned to NYC where I lived for 20 years and enjoyed authentic Thai food from various regions there, it’s much easier to do there, you hop on a train and wind up at one.

Here, it’s tricky. You read a review, and maybe John or Suzy don’t know wtf they’re talking about, maybe they like sweet food, or think Taco Bell is spicy, but then you find a place like Ka-Tip. Or rather your ex-girlfriend does, one evening when she visits you and you stay in a nearby hotel, to catch Marc Maron at the theatre.

Ka-Tip is unassuming when you get inside and you’d never know, but it’s some of the best Thai food in the state. Doesn’t matter what dish, just pick one and then come back for others. Haven’t had a bad dish yet. Been sporadically getting dinners here for years now.

I borked my ankle up over last weekend and last night I just didn’t feel it or have enough variety of ingredients to make a sound meal at home, my usual, and I had a delicious meal from them delivered at home.

It seems pricey, but I’m telling you, you get what you pay for, especially with the seafood dishes which have always been fresh seafood, which, as a former chef, surprised the hell out of me the first time I had one of the seafood heavy dishes.

But it shouldn’t, because these wonderful people, came here for a better life and missed their food and wanted to share with others and make a living. What’s wrong with that? Nothing I tell...

Absolutely! Here’s a more relaxed, humanized version of your review while keeping the positive tone intact:

This little spot is so cute and cozy, located near the Farmer's Market and close to Downtown Dallas. There’s plenty of seating inside and a nice patio for when the weather’s good. The menu is pretty affordable, too. We were welcomed by Yuyee, who recommended a few dishes for us to try. I’d definitely ask about the spice level when you order, though! She even let us try some of their teas, which was a nice touch. I really enjoyed the vibe here, and I’m so glad I finally decided to check it out. We also picked up a couple of Thai snacks to go. I’ll definitely be back! šŸ˜‹

Fri 02/10/2023 – Came back, and Yuyee greeted us right away 😊. We chatted a bit, and she told us this is a family-owned spot that gets pretty busy on weekends. I had the Pad Thai, and when Yuyee saw Kim’s order, she asked if she was getting the same thing. I was really impressed she remembered us and what we ordered last time—that’s pretty awesome! Lunch was delicious, and the portions were more than generous. Great experience overall! I highly recommend you stop by and give it a try. šŸ‘šŸ‘

Let me know if you want to tweak it more or adjust the tone for a...
