This bar holds a special place in my heart; it's a true local favorite. Moving away from Dallas made me realize how much I missed its laid-back, dive-bar charm. The atmosphere is consistently welcoming and fun. While the beer selection has evolved, and the legendary $8 Hamm's pitchers are now a memory, it remains a reliable spot for a relaxed beer with friends.
What truly stands out is their surprisingly delicious hot dogs. Despite my general aversion to them, theirs are always freshly made, generously topped, and make for a perfect, no-fuss happy hour meal with a side of chips. The array of board games provides a welcome alternative to simply chatting, and the staff are always friendly and conversational, especially if you're flying solo. Read moreSome venues know who they are, and that’s enough! So is the story of Mike’s Gemini Twin. I’ve heard about Mike’s Gemini long before I sashayed through their doors for the first time, and I’m glad I finally did. In my category of venues, Mike’s classifies as a dive bar with crosstown appeal, attracting everyone from pro ballplayers, to stars of the service industry, and socialites such as myself. If you’re looking for a fun time, place to enjoy a cocktail with rare finds, bar-bites, or a game of billiards, all while getting to know some of the coolest people from around town, this is your place. Cozy little booths one one side of the space, long full offering bar, with some cooky liquor finds, no drafts are offered only can/bottle beer. It's our go to spot for catching up without feeling that we are part of the cool kids crowd. Food is not why you go there, although their kosher beef franks will do the trick if you want to extend the drinking for the night. Pickled eggs and sausages are the other food offerings. The black carved bar is from the old Hard Rock Cafe that was originally saved and installed in the Black Friar off McKinney, so was very happy to see it continue it's journey and have it on...
