This is my idea of a Mexican restaurant! You get both salsa verde and salsa roja with your thin and crispy tortilla chips as free appetizer. Real cloth dinner napkin. A frozen mug to pour my Corona into. Very generous and tasty double-scoop guacamole (paid) appetizer. I was intrigued by the wide range of choices on the pesco side of the menu, but I stayed traditional with 3 crispy beef tacos. The tacos were large, filled with flavorful ground taco meat. There was plenty of rice and beans, and a large heap of lettuce and tomato salad... very welcome. Perhaps it was the roaming troubador who enticed me to stay longer, but I did something I seldom do in a Mexican restaurant... I ordered dessert! I had ice cream and sopapilla. The ice cream was hand-dipped. I don't believe anyone could have gotten even one more grain of sugar to stick to the heavily-laden light and fluffy sopapilla. They didn't have espresso, but the black coffee was fresh and delicious. La Calle Doce (12th Street) is now my first choice in Mexican restaurants.

Place was nice, we were sat at 2:30 (Sunday brunch). We were served chips and 3 salsas and flour tortillas with butter, all good. We placed our order at 2:45 from the brunch menu. We got our drinks and waited, she camed back and refilled our drinks at 3:05, I asked for my brunch bloodymary and she said she was waiting on it. We were sat next to the bar and she never made the order and she said it was now full price, so I passed on it. She comes back at 3:15 saying brunch menu is now passed, I expressed my concerns asked for the manager but they were eating and didn't want to be bothered. She didn't tell me, I had to witness her get shooed away. She came back saying she could ask the kitchen, but at this time I know they weren't going to honor it because I'm sure they were putting their brunch items away. Our waitress basically 'sat' on our order and waited to tell us after the fact. I expected that kind of service in Oak Cliff but not in Lakewood lol smh.

People telling you that this place is good don't have taste buds. Just think about this: we went to Downtown Dallas, on a Saturday evening, and we had no issue with parking. I wonder why 🤔. I ordered the Plato Especial which has Beef & Chicken Fajitas, beef short ribs & sausage with guacamole, rice & Ranchero beans. Presentation was good. It was served on a plancha, which never turned off, that overcooked and dried out all the meats. There's a RIDICULOUS amount of green peppers they add to it. (Meat was under the bell peppers, hence why the meat dried out🤦‍♂️) And the beans had ZERO flavor. Rice was good, Tortillas were amazing, but not enough to have a good and consistent experience. Service was good as well. But at $25 for that plate, I can tell you we won't be going back. Jack in the Box is down the street, fyi. **overpriced and overhyped**

First let me say the food is good, the waitresses and Mr.Chuy are great but if you plan to host a gathering here DONT.

Natalia totally ruined this experience for us. I held a baby shower in their small second level section. From the beginning a lady named Maria was extremely rude on the phone then could be heard handing the phone to Natalia in a rant when i called to reserve the spot. I had previously went to see and ask about it, initially they were nice and it seemed very promising, since they made it seem like it was a breeze to have chairs there and a waitress. I wanted to trust that maybe we had a miscommunication and things would be fine. She was ADAMNT that her employee make a total of 220 tip since she would be up there attending us instead of working the floor. No problem i agreed to make sure the waitress got her money no matter what. Now to the day of the baby shower, in the middle of the event the employees informed me that natalia had instructed them to charge me 4 ghost plates because only 18 of the 22 people we planned for showed up. We cannot help life events and truthfully paying for ghost plates of items not consumed is stealing. She had received the deposit for the spot, the people that did come ate and paid for their meal, i made sure the waitress got her money. Even then I received TEXT messages from Natalias personal phone in an unprofessional rant about paying ghost plates. Her unprofessionalism really shined through that night and ruined the whole experience only 2.5 hours into the 4 hour rent. Never again will i do business with this place, Mr Chuy did end up being very understanding and reasonable but me and my family can agree that Natalia is a horrible representation of this restaurant.

PLEASE RESERVE YOUR PARTIES ELSEWHERE Save yourself...

Honestly this place is not even worth one star. Years ago this place was worth 5 stars, we went there today with the family, it was to be a special occasion. This turned out to be a disaster, the food was horrible my server was great but the food was horrible. My husband got up to go talk to the manager, yet my husband is the type of man that does not like to complain..when speaking to the manager the manager said he would go check the food. Unfortunately he never return to our table, never came to check on us or apologize. This was disappointing as he was the manager. Must say my sister had the Tilapia plate that also had Shrimp in it and it tasted nasty I, had the flautas and they tasted nasty the dipping sauce was extremely salty and the beans and rice were cold. My brother-in-law's food did not taste good i guess its safe to say no ones food was good, no flavor, no taste.. nothing The kids nachos which should be something that cannot be screwed up... Well it was screwed up, it was disgusting kids wouldn't even eat it and it it seemed as they counted exactly 8 chips and just loaded on with cheese and put the chili con carne in a little cup in the center. This is so sad!!! HIGH PRICED FOOD for poorly executed meals!! nice location, nice atmosphere but the food is horrible. I would have preferred jack-in-a-box to what I received there. So by all means anybody going there to for a special event think twice because it's not the place. At this point it's needless to say... none of us will be returning to this place and believe me there...

My family and friends hve been by the one in Bishop Arts and we loved that place! So last Friday we tried out their Skillman location because it was closer for one of our friends. There were 6 of us total.

The orders at our table were: -Two shrimp plates -Flautas -Two Quesadillas -Enchiladas Verdes

Upon getting our food we noticed that something STUNK - like a dirty moldy dish rag. We realized that it was CHEESE that was used in our quesadillas and enchiladas. At one point as I was eating my enchiladas I swear I could taste the stink of the cheese. The two people couldn't eat the quesadillas the stink was that bad. Everyone else at our table was like "oh, it can't be that bad" but then were regretting those words when we told them to sit in our spots for a second and realized that we in enveloped in a cloud of stink. We thought it could be the plates (which I don't know what would have been worse - not cleaned plates or stinky cheese) but after sniffing the plates we realized that it was indeed the type of cheese that was used. One of the shrimp orders realized that 1/2 of her order wasn't cooked all the way and stopped eating instantly. The flautas were burned to a crisp as well.

Later that evening and the next day 3 out of the 6 of us had very mild cases of what we believe was food poisoning. And now sadly we are on the cautious side to go back to the Bishop Arts location.

Also I guess the place was having sewage issues because all of the bathrooms were signs to not flush toilet paper down...
