Note that once you sign the contract, the southern charm and hospitality is immediately replaced with snark and open hostility. The duplicity that Ms. Twitchell, the resident event keeper of Aldredge House, possesses is no less than astonishing: expect to receive contrived niceties sandwiched in between strangely passive-aggressive snipes.
Also don't expect anything unique or special. When asked if they have any specialty dishes, the answer was an emphatic no. When we asked for something unique, two weeks later, we received a menu where one of the dishes has been replaced with something equally uninspired.
It's obvious they're purely margin minded.
If you request something special, they'll always push back with something distinctly lacking in originality - primarily interested in cooking "Luby's" like cafeteria dishes that are easy to cook in bulk. Don't let the fancy descriptions fool you into thinking the dishes will be special - it's barely a step up above all-you-can-eat buffet cafeteria food.
Oh, and if you want to try any of the foods, so you know what your $10k tab will be buying? Not only do they exhibit external annoyance at the request, but they'll be quick to let you know that you'll be paying full retail price for every dish that you test. They're looking to nickel and time you every step of the way.
Having an abhorrent attitude, seething in snark, just doesn't make sense in the event business. People are already stressed enough as it is without having to be concerned with the weight of such petulance.

Read moreBeautiful historic house on Swiss Ave, and the tour was great! Charming and engaging, beautiful costumes, and endearing performances by volunteer actors. The story of the home's original owners takes you through most of the house (which was stunningly decorated for the holidays!), and afterwards, you can explore a bit more and get photos. A great FREE activity for visiting family and friends, folks interested in Dallas history, or anyone looking for something different to do on the second Saturday of the month. Also, FYI- we went in Dec 2021 and most guests had masks, but the actors were unmasked. It is a challenge to keep distance on the tour of the interior, so if you're concerned, I highly recommend...
Read moreBuilt 1915–1917 for William and Willie Lewis, the Aldredge House is a French Eclectic mansion on Dallas’s historic Swiss Avenue. Designed by Hal Thomson and later home to George and Rena Aldredge, it’s now a museum.
As an event venue, it was awe-inspiring—warm, elegant, and rich with history. You can truly feel Rena Aldredge’s presence; she was a founding patron of Dallas-area Garden Clubs. The house’s memorabilia and beautifully preserved grounds are fantastic.
Fun trivia: the upstairs study served as J.R. Ewing’s office in the TV...
