This is the real deal when it comes to dive bars. It's funny that they advertise themselves as “upscale dive” but there really is nothing upscale about this place. Not location, clientele, decor, ambience, nada. Just pure unadulterated neighborhood dive bar.
As I entered I was greeted with a smile, a greeting and a handshake. Not a bad start. The first thing to greet you, of course, is the cavelike darkness of the bar. But it definitely did relax me! As did the sight of a half dozen beers on tap and some older customers. Definitely not a hipster in sight.
The decor reminds me of Single or Double Wide, but without seeming to try as hard. It's a little bigger than you would think from first impression but not much.
I was surprised at how extensive the menu was. I tried the nachos and they were the new style which has all the ingredients piled atop individual tortilla chips. Not quite as filling as the regular nachos but a lot easier to eat and very yummy.
A very solid dive bar experience. I definitely recommend it if you're into that...
Read moreExtremely rude staff. Every time I went there. Just put up With it, last time got kicked out after two beers. Went to cosmo’s , and was welcomed with a hug and when I told them I was kicked out for “being too drunk” they laughed. And when I was at cosmo’s, everyone around me at the bar (full Bar) expressed same concerns, I’ve never in my life felt more Uncomfortable at a bar in my life. I bartended for eleven years, and many bar owners are my clients. Idk what happened or why, but it was creepy and weird and I’ll never go back. Burgers are truly good, that’s why I would keep going, but the arrogance of the bartenders and the trash way they treat customers - is unreal. I met the owner on the patio And discussed training his dogs and we got along and he was amazing. Such a stark difference from him and his bartenders. Honestly, good luck guys! Honestly, what a terrible experience. I’ll never forget how terribly uncomfortable I was and all The stories I heard at cosmo’s when I said it out loud how they shared the...
Read moreA classic local destination for burgers, beers, and cheap cocktails. The bartenders have a heavy hand, and they use paper tickets to keep track of tabs, and an old-school register. It fits with the vibe. Pictures and local memorabilia all over the walls…tags and stickers all over the bathroom walls. A pool table in the back with some creaky booths and antique chairs. The bartender chad is great, but the staff in general there seems to enjoy their jobs, and they’ve all been there for a number of years. This bar is great for early beers and dinner, and also for late night partying and smoking and such outside. A versatile local gem, LL will always be a place I bring people who don’t know east Dallas well. I used to live nearby. I’d skate up there every weekend. I still feel right at home at Dallas’ best burger-centric dive bar. Also a perk, a great jukebox. For me, that can make or break a dive bar. Also, cosmos a few doors over shares the space in a complimentary fashion. Great drinks and great food there too!...
