Came on a Saturday around 1 PM. It was a cold rainy day so we thought it was perfect for hotpot. You have the option of just shabu, just kbbq, or a combination of both. We elected to just eat the shabu only. It is an AYCE location, so you can order as much as possible.
For our soup base we ordered two K house beef soup. I think it had a good amount of flavor in it and I liked it.
They have a good selection of sides for the hotpot that include fish balls, tofu, vegetables, and a wide selection of noodles. A good selection of sauces for you to enjoy the shabu meat as well.
Since we came during the weekend, we had the dinner menu so we were able to select any of the meat choices. My favorite was #1 angus beef rib eye and the #3 angus choice round eye. I just found myself ordering multiple of those. The meat are very thinly sliced and the limit of 3 meats at once is a bit too stingy in my opinion. Our waitress was very attentive and constantly came over to check on whether we need to order more meat. Fear not, they also have a bell for you to try their attention if they don't come around frequently enough for you.
We also ordered the steamed egg and the Korean cheese corn. Unsure if those are limited to the kbbq meal, but our waitress was kind enough to let us order it with our shabu meal.
Decent sized parking lot. Doesn't seem too big so best to carpool with your party if possible.
I'll be back to try their kbbq another day.
Update: came back to try the kbbq. Decent selection of meats. Service was quick. Grills changed quickly whenever necessary....
Read moreLooking for a new KBBQ and shabu shabu place to try? Check out LEE DAE GAM K bbq & shabu in old K-town (Royal Ln)! There are a ton of options for meats and shabu shabu, and each were nicely cut. There are some hits and misses with the kbbq marinate, but you can make your favorite sauce at the sauce bar to make it taste good.
Customer service was 100% the best out of all the AYCE places I’ve been to (Manna, GEN, Yoon). Meats came out within 3 mins during busy dinner period, or just a minute at like 5:30 PM on a Saturday. I definitely enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. It’s not big like other AYCE because there are like 15 tables of six max. The workers are constantly moving and checking on the customers— so fast that before I even ring the bell for a new grill, they were already there to exchange it.
All the food from the shabu shabu bars were nicely stocked, and everything looks super fresh. The meats were delicious, both shabu shabu and KBBQ option. My sister and I ordered so much meats that we almost exploded from eating. Luckily, they have delicious mango and strawberry froyo as dessert to help us hold everything down!! Overall, this is definitely my favorite place so far, despite it being 30+ mins away.
Cost: $26.95 for either KBBQ or shabu shabu alone, then an extra $5 if you want both options.
Ps; If you’re worried about COVID-19, they check your temperature when you walk in, and there are gloves to use when grabbing food at the bars. I definitely feel more safe eating here versus GEN where it was...
Read moreWhen my favorite restaurant in Dallas, Koryo Kalbi, closed, then reset their once-vast and superb menu, it left me in Korean food limbo. I eventually found another place I really like, but last night (Saturday) they informed us they were closed over an hour before their posted closing time. BUMMER!
So, after some frantic phone research, we went across the street to Lee DaeGam. They saved the day!
KBBQ for two was great. The brisket, beef loin, and bulgogi were excellent, with very nice texture and rich beef flavor. Service was very friendly and attentive even though my party was two shaggy, white rock and roll freaks who don't use chopsticks all that well.
The young lady who was our waiter did a great job and her service was supplemented by Jay, who really liked my TOOL cap (search terms - TOOL WRENCH LOGO) and made us feel at home.
As it got late, my companion suggested they wanted us out of there and would not change our charred grill any more. Wrong answer - they changed it twice after that and we had a nice chat with Jay about the demanding process used to clean those carbonized surfaces. At no time did we feel rushed, but we are gentlemen and hurried as much as we could to knock off all that fine food.
And, contrary to some reviews I see here, the banchan were just fine. The marinated eggplant, something I'd not seen in our many banchan encounters, was especially good and the kimchi, pickles, and sauces at the salad bar were just fine.
Thanks, Lee DaeGam for saving our evening. See you...
