Unforgettably...terrible service. Good food but small portions.
I wanted to like this place based on the reviews but I left dinner service with an immense feeling of regret and disappointment. Disappointed that the service for such an upscale place was so poor. Regretful that I should have gone to a different location where I would have received better service and more food for a lot less money.
It started off great. The gentleman at the front of the house kindly greeted us and promptly got us seated. The waiter (I think Charles was the name.) came by, introduced himself, and took our drink order.
A few minutes later he came back, took our order (We ordered two of the Signature Taste of JOA.), turned on the grill and disappeared. Then we started noticing a faint smell of gas/propane, and after looking around, we figured out it was definitely coming from the grill at our table. We informed the front of the house and were promptly reseated. It was at this moment that our original waiter, Charles, seemingly abandoned us entirely. It went downhill after that.
We were constantly overlooked by our waiter. The side dishes were slow to arrive. The meat took even longer. Our waiter would disappear for a while and we'd be left with empty side dishes or with no rice and when we did ask for more that took a while to come out. It was a lot of waiting in angst for the waiter to come by so we can get decent service. We never received our soup until the very end and had to get it to-go.
We never did see Charles again towards the end of the service. I think he handed us off to another waiter. While I normally tip 15% to 25%, the service was so bad that I decided not to tip.
The food was great but overshadowed by the poor service that we received, especially for such an upscale location. The service just doesn't match the quality of the food. Another gentleman who was helping clear the tables asked if the service was a lot better than when it started and I told him it just went from bad to worse. He then gave us a coupon for the terrible service. While I appreciate the gesture, that coupon will remain unused—I simply don't...
Read moreMy friends and I decided to visit Joa to try out their Taste of Texan platter priced at $179.99. Unfortunately, the experience we had was underwhelming, and I would not recommend returning to Joa.
To begin with, the most important aspect of any dining experience is the food quality. At Joa, we found that the meat quality has deteriorated since the restaurant underwent a name change. The meats in the Taste of Texan platter, which we expected to be the star of the show, were lackluster and left us feeling unfulfilled. It seems as if the restaurant has cut corners in terms of sourcing high-quality ingredients, which is evident in the taste and texture of the meat.
Additionally, the service we received at Joa was far from impressive. We had to constantly remind our waitress to bring us the side items we ordered, which was frustrating and detracted from our overall enjoyment of the meal. It seemed as if the staff was not as attentive or organized as they should have been, leading to unnecessary delays and dissatisfaction.
Moreover, the bar service at Joa also left much to be desired. I ordered a black tea, but the bartender served me barley tea, which he incorrectly identified as jasmine tea. This mix-up was not only disappointing but also raised concerns about the level of expertise and attention to detail of the staff at Joa.
In conclusion, our visit to Joa was a letdown due to the subpar meat quality, lack of attentive service, and mistakes made by the staff. While the Taste of Texan platter might sound enticing, I would advise potential diners to consider alternative dining options that can offer a more satisfying and hassle-free...
Read moreToday was my 30th birthday and my best friend Melody took me to have Korean BBQ for the first time. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was inviting yet upscale at the same time. I loved the interior design with the red low lighting. The booth we sat in was perfect for just the two of us, intimate but with enough space to make our own. Then there was the service 😍 Yazan was our waiter and he was with us every step of the way. He was kind and helpful the entire time. Since it was my first time, he walked me through each step of the experience. Yazan cooked our meats for us, chatted us up, and was an all around delight! We were both so happy that he was our waiter and we know he will bring the same exemplary service to anyone that he serves. He's also a Libra and that's a win in our book 😂 The food was delicious! The meat was tender and juicy with amazing flavor. The sides were all their own stars and only served to enhance the meat that we had. I can't even begin to remember what we ate the whole time we were there, but Yazan would remind me with each new meat what delight we were going to experience next. We each had a Peach Prosecco drink that was tasty with a healthy pour. Melody had only briefly mentioned that it was my birthday, and Yazan surprised us with the whole crew singing happy birthday and some delicious dessert with moon pies and vanilla ice cream complete with sparklers. I could not have asked for a better birthday dinner and will be returning very very soon! Thank you Yazan and thank you Melody and thank you JOA Korean BBQ! Everyone should go here and...
