This used to be a 5 star place and can be a 4 star depending on when you go. Ive been going here for over 20 years!
Tbh it seems like they lost their edge ever since they moved to the new location right down the street.
I dont know what happened, but last night 2/6/2023 was my worst experience ever! I took my pregnant girlfriend and her mom, we both ordered enchilada plates and her mom ordered a "chalupa" plate which was really was just 3 tostadas with beans and cheese. Everywhere ive been here in Texas chalupas are not fried to a crisp and they are not flat! Those are tostadas, so we asked the waiter Luigi to get us a menu. We just wanted to double check what came with the plate and maybe order something else. He doesn't get a menu and asked what was wrong (he kind of created the problem from that point) so we told him that the plate seemed more like tostadas. He then proceeded to tell us that there isnt a difference and asked us where we were from. Where are we from? What does that have to do with anything? Just say "this is how we make our chalupas here, im sorry is there anything else you might like?" that would be customer service not insult someone by basically saying this is how we do things around here obviously you're not from here. Thats how we felt. We weren't even upset about anything until then. We didn't order anything else. But it gets worse, after we finished eating my girlfriend asked for a menu so she could look at the dessert. Luigi then lies straight to our face and says the menu doesn't have dessert on it and starts listing dessert items. At this point im getting angry because I know for a fact the dessert is on the menu so I had to cut him off and tell him could you please just get us a menu because he had denied us one twice at that point.
By the time we got the menu we just wanted to leave. So we did. The food was good we just wanted to clarify what she had ordered but Luigi created a problem.
Also, I miss the Mexican candy they used to sell and the new valet parking setup is not good to...

This small locally owned restaurant is one of a kind! Great food, great service, and a unique atmosphere.
To start - you will most likely experience a wait. During peak hours, expect to spend about 45minutes to an hour waiting for a table. During your wait, load up on margaritas and other beverages at the small bar. While the small size of the building does add to the wait time, it also makes for a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. From the handmade decorations to the tight nit layout - it feels like you are eating at Mama Mia's dinner table in her very own home! If you are lucky, you might even see Mia having a bite at her own restaurant! I hear she is quite the stickler when it comes to making sure the chefs are following her recipes. The saying holds true "If mama ain't happy, nobody is happy"!
Once seated you will be close to your neighboring tables - so make some new friends! Enjoy the complimentary chips and salsa, but watch out - that salsa has a bite to it! It's Kinda like hot cheetos, once you start eating you can't stop or the burn will catch up to ya! Everything on the menu is tasty and is always served quickly. I personally stick to the fajitas but only heard good things about all of the other options.
Parking - Mia's has its own lot with mandatory/complimentary valet. It makes for a hassle free experience as the lot can get super full.
Catering - Mia's does a mean catering setup. I have used Mia's catering for a number of events and they never disappoint. All of the food is always ready on time and packaged perfectly for serving. The containers they provide are perfect for leftover storage.
Overall, this place rocks. And the best thing about it - it's a local owned...
Read moreI'd give zero stars as I got zero food and zero respect. This is a customer service issue. They do not care or are discriminatory, and I will be just fine with never spending $1 at Mia's. I ordered some nachos on my way to work Mother's day afternoon. Online menu said $9. When I got there, a snippy little man told me $12 and I literally only had $10 and change in cash and said "on the website it said $9" and showed them such... But then if you scroll more right on the phone it shows $9 is for half order and $12 is for full. For $3, plus the price of trashing the nachos, they wouldn't change my order to half so I'd get dinner before work, nor let me keep me the nachos they handed me. When calling back to let manager know this was my very first time ordering anything with them and I don't see why for $3 plus cost of food they trashed the nachos they made me plus wouldn't give me the $9 nachos I thought I was ordering---I was put "on hold" while I heard everything in the background and no one coming to the phone for over 5 minutes. Then I hung up and called back and was literally hung up on when I said I was on hold for a manager for over 5 minutes. This happened to a mother going to work in the evening on Mother's day, who didn't get dinner before work, and was given the direct message that they don't want "my kind" back, and I will not be. There's plenty of places for tacos and nachos in Dallas that will serve straight...
