Where do I even begin? If you're looking for an unassuming place to get a brew and a bite, look absolutely no further than the Stoneleigh P. Seriously, stop looking. Just go to what I shall refer to as "The P" for the rest of this review for all of your hunger and inebriation needs. If you spend even just a split moment further looking for a different bar to go to after reading this, you're wasting you fuggin time, my friend, and that's on you. Don't be a silly goose and heed my words. GO. TO. THE. P.
There are daily specials on both food and drinks, and the menu is constantly evolving with the times. I've never looked at the menu and not found a mouthwatering choice to make. Speaking of watering your mouth, the very kind and down to earth staff will make sure you get your desired (safe) amount. And speaking of the staff, it is family owned and operated, which is about as good as it gets for most businesses in the service industry. The Garrison family have a huge heart, and it shows in the way they do business and by their devoted following. You will never be let down by the sheer hospitality of the employees at The P.
Lastly, I find solace in the fact that The P doesn't take itself too seriously. In the annals of Dallas nightlife, I've found a common degree of pretentiousness in many establishments that can be off putting. And I get it: it's hard to maintain a down to earth image while evolving to stay relevant to the everchanging times, but The P has pulled this off seamlessly for decades. A great example of this would be the recent 'All I Want for Christmas' jukebox fiasco. If you don't know what I'm referring to, please Google "Mariah Carey Stoneleigh P" and enjoy what you will undoubtedly discover. It was magical in so many ways, and so is The P.
*P.S. - They've just recently moved locations for the first time since inception, and it was kind of a huge deal. Don't accidentally go to the old address. You can currently find the jukebox that regulates a particular Christmas track at 4218 Lemmon Ave. Tell em...
Read moreAmazing find on a whim. Started with drinks, great beer selection and well stocked liqours. The food though was the star. We started with the charcuterie...there are not enough words to describe this correctly. The selections on it were outstanding and the layout and options were a delight to the senses. Our other appetizer was the fondue and pretzel bites. The flavor of the fondue...amazing. There was none left. Our entrees were top notch. My husband had the beef tenderloin. Brined, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I had the caprese pasta. I hurt myself to finish it. After dinner we sat and relaxed finishing our drinks. Our server recommended to Nutella donut holes. We agreed, and ended up ordering a second to go for the next mornings breakfast. We couldn't be happier with our find in this restaurant. When in Dallas, we...
Read moreThis is about as "comfortable" as you can get. Not necessarily the cracked vinyl seat coverings at the booths or the metal outdoor tables and chairs, but more like an "old shoe" that just feels so good to put on whenever you wear it that you don't ever want to find a replacement, no matter how shiny or fashionable. At the Stoneleigh P, the understated, unassuming, unaltered, low brow ambiance, along with the basic burgers and bar food just encompasses you in "comfort". The french fries are great. The bar has a nice selection of local beers on tap. There is an adjacent parking lot for free, so parking is never an issue. Unfortunately, after 50+ years, the restaurant is being forced to move. We wish them the best, but it will be hard to re-establish what they have achieved over the...
