Mr Cajuns appeared in my IG feed today and had decent reviews. I googled the menu and immediately saw that a 6 pc fried catfish with fries was $40. What??? Now you gotta stand on business if you’re bold enough to charge those kinds of prices for fried catfish in Pleasant Grove. So I definitely planned to try it. And I definitely planned to write a DETAILED review. So on Wednesday, July 3rd, I arrived at the Pleasant Grove location on Lake June Rd at approximately 12:15pm. There was ample parking, however, there was only one way in and out which I could see being an issue whenever traffic picks up. There’s a cute patio out front and the grounds were clean. Upon entering, I was greeted by 3 beautiful ladies who made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Their customer service was excellent. No name tags were worn, otherwise I would thank them here individually. The inside is clean and sporty, with tv screens and a small sitting area. I discussed the menu with the young lady helping me and I ended up ordering the 2 pc fish and shrimp basket, a 6pc lemon pepper wing basket, and a banana pudding. They don’t have hushpuppies which was a HUGE disappointment. My order was delivered promptly and with a smile in about 10 minutes. I drove back home to eat. Now…. The food looked amazing. It looked season. It looked flavorful. It looked DONE, as in cooked all the way through. Let’s review each item shall we… *Please Refer to the pics* Catfish: Extremely fishy taste and smell. Clearly needed to be cooked longer. It had a pink tinge of color to it and it was watery and soft. I ate the ends of one filet that was cooked and it tasted very fishy. And I do not like fishy tasting fish. There was no flavor other than that and grease. Pros: nice sized filet. Fried Shrimp: I can’t review it because they forgot to put it in my order. And yes, I paid for it. (See receipt) Also, the menu says $23.99 but I was charged $26.99. 6pc Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings: 3 out of 6 were cooked through. The other 3 were pink inside. (See pic) They seemed baked instead of fried, which is cool if you like em that way. But if you prefer more of a Wing Stop dry season type of lemon pepper, you won’t like them. Pros: Lemon flavor was great. Fries: Basic. They put the fish on top of the fries which is the usual protocol at these types of restaurants, however, the fishy taste from the fish soaked into the fries. Did not taste good at all. “Complimentary” slice of white bread: Dear Mr Cajun: You are charging $40 for 6 pieces of undercooked, under seasoned Catfish. White bread is a slap in the face to the consumer. You’re either a BMW or a Prius. You can’t be both. Tartar sauce and Ranch: Store Bought. Again, with these high prices everything you serve should be FROM SCRATCH. No exceptions. Banana Pudding with no bananas: Not bad. The only thing I actually enjoyed. In summary, Mr Cajun was a whole lot of disappointment for the items I selected. To play devil’s advocate, maybe fried catfish, wings, and fries aren’t their specialty. The food looks great on social media but doesn’t live up to the hype. Again, to be fair, I didn’t try other menu items such as the seafood boils or oxtails, so those could be better. But I certainly won’t order the very overpriced undercooked under seasoned catfish or wings again. On a positive note, they do have a nice variety of daiquiris to choose from so if you’re into that, definitely give it a go. If I’m in the area and I want a daiquiri, I might try one myself. That could actually be the real superstar of the whole menu. But it definitely isn’t the catfish or wings.

I have wanted to try Mr. Cajun on Lake June for months and placed an online order. The order was placed online at 520p with a pickup time at 540p. I ordered 2 orders of the smoked chicken salad (smoke flavor was over powering). I ordered 2 po boy sandwiches and at 548p, after my son arrived to pick up the order, I received a text that the they were in the process of removing the po boys from the menu. Well, my son order the fried fish and fries (which was extremely salty). I ordered turkey necks with corn. The turkey necks were delicious, but we did not receive the corn. I ordered lemon pepper wings that did not seem to be cooked long enough. For dessert, I order the banana pudding that was very dense I could barely scoop it out of the container. Lastly, I tried the sweet potato thing, is was good. With this being our first time trying Mr. Cajun, I had high hopes. My order was done by 620p. Due to the issue with the po boys and the delay, I thought they would at least try to accommodate us by including a side of the rice & beans, but they wanted to charge me $7.99. I spent over $100 and it was not worth it at all. Sorry, I will not be back.

My husband wanted to try Mr.Cajun for so long . We were so excited to do so . When we arrived we were greeted by Ms.Krystal and she was the sweetest lady she helped us decide what we wanted to eat . My husband was very excited he got the 10 wing special but he only wanted all drums as the order was being rung up the most ignorant thing happened a bald headed man with gold teeth came out of the kitchen and stated “we don’t don’t do all that here. First : it was rude as ALL GET IT OUT AND IT POORLY REFLECTED ON Mr.Cajun. It could’ve been a simple “hey Krystal the wings are already pre bagged , I can’t do it like that would’ve been okay . Now , for me this is where things got worse before they got better . As we told Ms.Krystal it was okay we will take the wings the way they were and I started to order my food he came out again & stated “if anybody got a problem with they can go or something else very IGNORANT. I personally ignored him because I’m from Louisiana (BR to be exact) & I often know sometimes people from New Orleans can be rude . I let it fly because my husband really wanted to try this place & I had already spent about 70.00 during the visit on top of tip. Ms.Krystal was the person that came and apologized and turned the whole experience around my husband loved his wings they were a 10/10 . I loved my shrimp basket 10/10, The kool-AID & deserts were FIRE 🔥! The only thing they should do is keep the RUDE FRY COOK IN THE KITCHEN . Allow the front of the house to run the front ! It’s a reason your cook and not apart of guest services because it’s not his strong suit . WE almost allowed his ignorance to ruin our experience . Now I will say this KEEP the ladies at the front they were all friendly but Krystal WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO MAKE THIS EXPERIENCE BETTER for us . Mr.Cajun thank you for the great food . I hope from this review you speak with your fry cook & make him aware of his actions & attitude. Some people really like your business & don’t mind supporting you , but this could’ve really changed my mind from wanting to patronize...

Listen Family,

My family and I have been waiting for a great restaurant to eat after we get out of church, that’s 1) close to our home, 2) Food actually taste good and 3) Customer service has to be on point. I believe we found it! Mr. Cajun greeted us along with his staff with smiles! The vibes in this place is amazing! The facility is clean and sanitary which is important to us. Even the patio tables and ground was super clean! We ordered our food and when I tell you the food came out hot and fresh! I wish I would have taken pictures of the food but it was so good, it was gone before I thought about any pictures! My wife and I ordered the fish and shrimp, and let me tell you, we both looked at each other in amazement of the quality of the fish and seasoning! You can definitely tell that Mr. Cajun is meticulous about how food is kept, prepared, cooked, and presented! Yes it’s all in the taste and texture of the food! Real foodies know what I’m sayin! My son and daughter ordered the same thing and they were shaking their head and quiet the whole time! Needless to say, this is our spot! I’m a pastor, and an entrepreneur and I will be referring all of them to Mr. Cajun’s. I’ve already sent some of my parishioners there and they are in love too! Listen I’m gonna always keep it real with you! Try it this place out! It’s on point! You will see! Thanks to Mr. Cajun and his staff for a wonderful experience. We are customers for life now! Oh, and I ordered my youngest son some wings from their as well. He’s like his dad, we don’t parse words. He asked where did I get the wings and I shared with him where, and his exact words were “ yep that’s the spot dad”...
