Easy to miss this restaurant at night. It’s literally a hole in the wall with two sets of doors at the entrance. For some reason it didn’t feel welcoming. We arrived a bit late at the restaurant but were seated without any mention of time. The waitress came up to our table and offered us the digital menu as well as mentioned the evening special. We requested a few minutes to review the menu. She returned a few minutes later to tell us that the kitchen will be closing in nine minutes (seemed like an odd number). My son wanted a chicken item on the menu but was reluctantly told that it would take 30 minutes to make. We didn’t see the point of mentioning time if there were no other constraints and the fact it wasn’t mentioned when we were seated. Seems timing was an issue though the waitress said she didn’t want us to feel rushed. My son opted for another chicken item but instead of breaded, he wanted it grilled. The waitress immediately responded that there will be an additional charge for the grilled option. We approved of the additional charge but the fact that she was reluctant to get one item ordered and wanted to charge us more for another seemed a bit ridiculous. About the food - aside from the chicken meal, we had the rock shrimp which was nothing special, deep fried with some type of dressing and fancy garnish. Reminded me of the dips from one of the fast food restaurants. The oysters were nothing special. We were a bit disappointed with our overall visit.

I was in town visiting friends who highly recommended dinner here. We had another friend from out of town visiting as well and we decided to try it. We were greeted well and seated at a very comfortable big booth. Our traditional drink of choice is an old fashioned and we were very happy to get a high quality one here. The service was fantastic and our server was knowledgeable, helpful, fun and witty. I ordered the salmon and I have to say it was incredible! The outside had a light crusting and the inside was delicious and moist. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Overall-great energy, great service, great ambiance and vibe. Would definitely come back when I am back in Dallas.

Fantastic meal - the scallops and chorizo dish blew me away. We also tried the 90 day aged steak which was a treat - totally unique flavor. The servers aren't just kids waiting tables to make money in college - these are folks who take pride in their knowledge of the food coming from the kitchen, every option on the wine and beer menu, and the restaurant they work in. I'd take my family back here any night for a high end meal - it produces top notch food without any of the Hollywood pretenses of a glam restaurant downtown. Look carefully when driving by - it's so unassuming from the outside you might walk right past the front door.

We have been to Neighborhood Services a couple of times and it was hit first time and miss second time which was this past weekend. We were seated as we walked in and didn't have to wait because of our reservation. Sometimes you have to wait regardless of reservation.

We sat down and had to wait before someone took our drink order...not too long but almost. We all ordered one of the special drinks and they were good, but not great as the $12-14 price. They also took a slightly annoyingly long time to arrive...pretty much the same time as the appetizers; but moving on.

First thing we noticed when trying to order that is was dark...not pleasing restaurant darkness but so dark you couldn't read the menu or see what you were eating. Instead of annoying everyone with the iPhone flashlight app I took a picture of the menu with flash and read it on the phone.

We ordered buffalo quail legs, rabe and garlic flat bread pizza, wedge salad, and texas bibb. Buffalo quail legs were good but not great, flat bread pizza was borderline cold and partially uncooked flatbread, friends seem to enjoy the wedge but the bibb was underdressed and tasteless and the hope of the pickled onions were dashed with only one very small piece on the salad.

My wife and I had the the Southeast Family Farms T-bone, brussels with pancetta and maple, and frites. Sad to say but the frites were by far the best thing we ate all night. Cooked and salted perfectly...I could have eaten only that and been very happy. The $60 Tbone appeared to be light of quoted weight, was cooked perfectly but came out stone cold. There was no crust at all and no seasoning (think salt and pepper). It might be OK for a $25 steak but certainly not $60. I know that NS is not a steakhouse, but you've got to do better than that. The brussels which were awesome the last time we visited were a disappointment. The too were lukewarm at best and seemed like they were cooked ahead of time and sitting. The pancetta was mushy and undercooked...I would have expected some texture.

Our friends had schnitzel and while he said it was good, there was a large portion uneaten. I had it on my last visit and it was really good. I don't think he liked it and was being polite. His wife had fish special and based on her comments it may have been the best thing of the night.

Service was adequate at best with a preppy somewhat smarmy waiter.

Our meal with tip for 4 people ended up being around $340 with 4 drinks and a lower priced bottle of wine. Maybe this was just an off night for NS, but there was no way our meal was worth $340....you just expect more as there are too many really good restaurants in Dallas. I'm sure there will be folks that continue to visit but I think we have made...

Stumbled upon this place on accident, as my girlfriend and I were waiting for our Uber to dinner. Upon arrival, we cancelled the Uber and decided to have a drink and some oysters at the bar. After talking to the bartender about the menu, we decided to forego our reservation at Carbone Dallas and to stay and eat there. I ordered the nightly special braised beef bolognese with a promise of hand made noodles and My girlfriend ordered the filet. Issues arose once our food was delivered. I was given a bowl of Alfredo, which was far from what I ordered. The bartender immediately noticed and went to the manager to ask why. He was told the kitchen had run out of the nightly special and that they had decided to give me “hand pulled” noodles with alfredo! Instead of relaying the information that they had run out of the dish and letting me order another dish, this was their remedy. The manager came over and said “we apologize don’t worry sir we’re taking the Alfredo off” and walked away. I DID NOT want Alfredo of course that should not be on the bill! I ordered a California red for Christ’s sake why would I get that with an Alfredo? That glass of nickel and nickel cab sav was left pretty much full! We finally got the bartenders attention and asked if I could order another entree. I did and it came out far after my girlfriend was done with her meal. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed nothing else had been taken off for this occurrence and obvious mistake. We were extremely disappointed with the management of this, as we were here from out of town, for a birthday celebration, and talked into staying here. We weren’t looking for something for free, we have plenty of money, as we were headed to Carbone!! It’s the principle of the matter that clearly management did not care one bit about what happened or how our experience was. The bartender was great and I said something to the manager solely because of his reaction of helplessness as he received no help remedying this situation. Safe to say we will NOT return as the manager is incapable of...

First of all I would like to say that my problem is specifically with this Neighborhood Services as we have enjoyed other locations and Montlake Cut many times without being disappointed. I advice you to stay clear of this specific restaurant and his manager Alex Gutierrez. This experience was not only disappointing but has me thinking of filing charges against the manager. We had a 9:30pm reservation for 4 and got to the restaurant at 9:10, to which we were told that they were running behind so it would take a little more time so we proceeded to sit at the bar and have a cocktail to wait for our table.

By 9:45 a group of 3 that were waiting before us at the bar got sat down so we were sure that we were next. By 9:50 another group of 4 entered the restaurant and at 9:55 they were sat down.

I approached the hostess table and asked a young man to get the manager because I wanted to complain about the fact that they sat down a group that came a lot later than us. This person said he was the manager and asked me what he could do for us and I told him that we wanted to sit down and explained the whole situation. By this time the hostess came to us and said she sat them down because they had a 9:15 and I said, I understand that but they weren't there until 9:50 so in any case they would have lost their reservation, to which the manager got angry and moved himself as to be in between me and the hostess and started to move forward as to try to challenge me physically to which my wife stepped in and asked him to step back.

We immediately closed our bar tab and left. While the bartender was closing our account another couple came to us and said the manager had treated them really bad and that they would never return.

I am hoping corporate takes notice and fixes situations like this because this person is tainting the...
