I was pretty surprised to see reviews were so mixed for this bar so I thought I’d throw in one of my own to offset some of the 1-stars. The short version: This is a DIVE BAR. One full of locals and regulars during the week and PACKED with everything from bachelorette parties to international travelers on the weekends. Karaoke is a blast, regulars will probably get priority, and the bartenders won’t deal with anyone trying to make things difficult. Duh. Get your drink, enjoy the vibe, and make sure to tip because the staff works hard. It’s a great time and you should definitely check it out!
The long: I’m a woman of color, my partner is from the Tri-state area and is often misunderstood as sounding rude, my friends can be annoying drunks. We’ve NEVER had any issues with racism or rude bartenders. Andrea, if I’m thinking of the right woman, has served me multiple times and has even cheered me up on a particularly bad night. My drink got thrown away once and they did me a solid and comped it when they could have just made me buy a new one (my fault for leaving it tbh) I will say the parking isn’t great and the manager DOES sort of hover, but I doubt he’s looking for customers to take advantage of. I think he’s just running a dive bar with a good mix of people and doesn’t want anyone starting trouble. He’s gotten onto me once about vaping (understandable, I forgot where I was) and was “rude” in the sense that he was direct and not messing around. It’s a room full of drunk people, so I know it wasn’t personal and he’s been kind every other time we’ve spoken.
Idk what’s with all the 1-star accusations but I get the feeling it’s from annoying patrons angry things didn’t go their way. Definitely stop in and check it out...
Read moreI recently visited One Nostalgic Tavern with a group of friends, hoping to enjoy a relaxing evening. As a pregnant woman, my friends were kind enough to make sure I was comfortable, so one of them went to get a chair for me to sit at our table. That’s when everything took a turn for the worse.
Out of nowhere, the owner, a white man, approached us with an angry expression. He was visibly upset that my friend had moved a chair, and he immediately started yelling at us. His tone was not just rude but aggressively hostile, and it was clear that his frustration was directed specifically at our group. Despite our efforts to explain that we were only trying to ensure I could sit comfortably, he continued berating us with offensive and racist remarks.
What happened next was beyond anything we could have imagined. The owner grabbed our drinks and threw them in our faces because we were not moving fast enough to get out of his bar, mind you I’m pregnant and not intoxicated, but it was still deeply saddening.. It was shocking and deeply humiliating, not to mention a clear act of aggression. The entire incident felt deliberate, as if he wanted to assert some twisted sense of control and superiority.
Experiencing such blatant racism and hostility, especially as someone who is visibly pregnant, was not only disturbing but deeply disappointing. This behavior should never be tolerated, and it’s appalling to see it coming from a business owner who is supposed to set a standard of respect and professionalism.
If you’re looking for a place where you can feel safe and respected, I strongly urge you to avoid One Nostalgic Tavern. No one deserves to be treated with such hate...
Read moreone of the WORST experiences i’ve had going to a bar. me and my friends walked straight to the bathroom (no bouncer at the door when we first walked in) so we could use the restroom. as we were headed to the restroom a older man started asking us for our id’s. mind you we were all very petite girls, all around 5ft, and 21. we thought he was messing with us so we laughed it off and proceeded to the restroom. i’ve never EVER been asked for my id when going into the restroom so i thought it was very weird that a random old man sitting at the bar was asking us this. we did not feel safe just giving him our id’s. when we walked out, we went over to the table where the rest of our group was and sat down. the man and a bartender (a older woman) walked over to us and immediately started threatening to call the cops, that we had to leave bc we didn’t give him our id’s, etc etc. he was directing this conversation mainly to my friend who is a person of color and left her feeling very VERY uncomfortable. he continued to threaten her and us with the police. mind you the only people in this establishment were white. the way this man came up and addressed three 21 year old girls was sickening. we offered to show our id’s to prove we were of age and he refused to have any solution. it was his way or no way at all. treated us so disrespectfully being a 50+ yr old (apparently the “owner”). i would absolutely never go back or want to support this place after witnessing first hand how they treat their customers. im beyond disgusted an embarrassed to have brought my friends here. it is a SHAME that in 2023 poc still have to experience situations like this. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS...
