I called 15 minutes ahead for a delivery customer's order and was told I'd have to wait. I said okay thank you, my reasoning for calling ahead. I arrived to a small, almost filled to capacity diner(restaurant.) No one acknowledged me or acted as if they cared to know why I was standing there. I finally introduced myself to a guy who was talking to everyone else at the bar while asking the status of the customer's order. He looked at his system and said dismissively, "Oh you only just called 11 minutes ago. I'll get you checked out in a few minutes." As I waited, I had to stand between snugly placed tables of patrons and get out of the way accordingly as the servers came around. I even got backed up to the door as others were leaving. I felt very uncomfortable but was there doing a gig service. Finally, I get beckoned to pay for the order which still wasn't ready yet. The pen and tray with the receipts were tossed at me instead of being placed in my waiting hand. I paused and looked at the guy in disbelief but signed anyway. I was just ready to get out of there at this point. I wait a bit more, and then I go to get my insulated bag in preparation for the food, and finally it's ready. I'm not sure what needs to happen but for sure how I was treated as a person not working there but working for them in a sense to the lacking customer service oriented sense of urgency for waiting customers left me wondering a lot of things. I would not recommend this place if it was the last one standing. It's all about how you treat people from all...
Read moreWe were in the area and needed food but we had no clue what we wanted. We saw this place and walked in to check out the menu. The place felt cozy and comfortable, and brought to mind the feeling of the Italian family dinners I was fortunate enough to be a part of (with my then boyfriend) in the 90s in Georgia. The guy who greeted us was very charismatic and welcoming; he gave us a menu and told us we would absolutely find something on it that we wanted to eat. He was right--a quick glance at the menu revealed 3 things that sounded amazing so we stayed for dinner.
The charismatic guy who greeted us was our server, and he was wonderful. Unfortunately, I truly suck at remembering names, so I can't give him a shout-out and thank him for solving that age old dilemma that happens whenever a girl and a guy are trying to decide where to go eat LOL A closer inspection of the menu left me with so many options to choose from that I couldn't decide what to order, so I went with the first thing that had caught my attention in that first quick glance: spinach ravioli in a pesto sauce. There was bread and salad while we waited on our meal. The spinach ravioli was really good, but it was more than I could eat in one sitting (especially after salad and a slice of toasted bread), but I did get a go-box and had a delicious lunch the next day. Overall, highly recommend Scalini's for great food in a...
Read moreCool neighborhood atmosphere in the restaurant. We had a 54min ticket time when quoted 20-25min on a take out pizza. Being new to the area, I was really excited to try this place out. I can understand the kitchen getting backed up on a Friday night. However, no one apologized for the wait or their misquoting the prep time. If they had told me it would take an hour to get a pizza I would have understood and waited to try them a different night. When we got there and found out the pizza wasn’t ready, we sat at the bar and asked if we could have a drink and possibly eat our pizza there depending on how long it would take. They said we could. We sat at the bar for 30min having only been greeted with waters. No one came back around to ask if we wanted a beer or glass of wine. The bill for our pizza arrived 10min before the pizza and was dropped without a word. When the pizza was finished it was handed to us in a to go box. We took this and not having been served a drink as a sign that they didn’t want us to dine there after all. We ate at home. The pizza was above average and a good value. I am disappointed at the lack of service. It seemed like they didn’t care we were there. Try going on a weeknight. The atmosphere and food...
