I order via Uber eats so didn't get the in-store experience; but I've grown up in TX, loving Shipley's; however, this location (Preston) simply can not execute a basic sausage and cheese kolache (or much else I've tried)... Their version of cheese is so very little that you can only see a bit of yellow when the roll is cut open (see pic) but you cannot taste or smell it. I've asked for extra cheese, to which I received a snarky note that 'extra cheese' costs extra and they 'wouldn't be able to accommodate in the future', and on that occasion the Preston location included a kolache SO overloaded with cheese it was nauseating and inedible...
This has never been an issue at other stores, from Katy to Magnolia to other Dallas locations. I took a pic that PERFECTLY illustrates this issue - I only wish I had taken a pic of that snarky note and gross kolache. I've given thesePreston location +5 tries to no avail.
I'd bet the official Shipley folks wouldn't be happy to hear how THIS franchise is run. I get Shipley's maybe once a year - all I wanted was my darned annual kolache...
FAIL - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THE PRESTON ROAD SHIPLEY DONUTS.
An additional note, I also order either glazed or chocolate donut holes AND a blueberry iced cake donut for myself on my annual visit (every other store this order lasts 2 days and is AMAZING) - to date the Preston Road Shipley's has NEVER had chocolate donut holes (WHY are they on the menu then??), the glazed donut holes are always stale, and of the +5 tries I've given these folks, I've only received one blueberry cake donut - other times it's a note stating they are out of blueberry cake donuts, which is odd because I order via Uber eats to be delivered between 7 and 8 am, which is WAY too early to be out of a popular flavor.
AGAIN, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THE PRESTON ROAD SHIPLEY'S.
I happened to be in Mesquite awhile back and visited their location and it was the Shipley's I remembered. So I think it's just the Preston location. KUDOS TO THE MESQUITE SHIPLEY'S ON MAIN STREET - EXCELLENT PRODUCTS, SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF, & HOT & FRESH COFFEE.
SHIPLEY'S ON PRESTON SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE PRODUCT THEY PUT OUT INTO...
Read moreJust garbage quality for donuts....this place is resting on their laurels and presume by having a FRANCHISE chain name, they can put out horrendous quality for donuts. Look at the reviews !!! IF you like anything that resembles good qulity donuts at a FAIR price, dont place on coming here. Its rare any donut place gets less than a 4.0 on average. Most mom and pop donut stores , regardless whether they are mediocre or great, get no less than 3.8 stars on average. THIS place is down to appx 3.0 stars now. THis garbage donut joint doesnt think they need to make fresh donuts every few hours. Their ego thinks customers / consumers who dont know much about decent donuts will just buy OLD quality, dry donuts. Ive tried most/ almost all donut stores in all of the North Dallas area (bc I LOVE donuts), some better than others...some will serve dry older donuts, but generally speaking make a attempt to make a new batch once in a awhile. But MOST donut stores will keep putting out their best product and to to make the customer happy. THis place DOES NOT CARE !!. TO have a franchise donut store who takes NO pride in what they put out....and then their customer relations person to jump on here and just apologize over and over with NO CHANGE. THeir management team must not care, must not make the rounds to each location and assess reviews. What trash this place is to think its OK to serve such crap quality and to want to uphold a franchise name....
Read moreI was KIND OF excited to see a Shipley’s being built not that far from me. But my hopes weren’t that high for some odd reason. I came and I don’t think I’ll return. I ordered a half a dozen of glazed donuts and donut holes. Let me start with the glazed donuts, they were so cold and stale. It wasn’t even the afternoon yet. I went there around 10am! God forbid if I was to go around 3pm, I’m sure they are selling stones of donuts from how stale and hard they were from just the mid morning time. The donut holes are a travesty! I had to make sure it was something in that lil impractical bag they put them in. And those were even worst, cold, hard and stale! I’m sure I could have used them in an old school slingshot to put someone’s eye out! For the price, they should be free if they are going to be serving these cold things they call donuts. The funny thing is, I brought these homes to a kid to try as well, she literally had one of each and threw it away. When a KID throws away anything sweet, then you know something is really off! I used to live in Houston for years and the Ella and 34th location has NEVER failed me even when it’s not the morning rush. They are always warm, fresh and good!! Might I add it’s cheaper! Inflation is real for sure! Please take some serious pointers/notes from the Ella & 34th location in Houston. Hell even the few locations in Arkansas are better...
