I've eaten at this location a ton (ie dozens and dozens of times). Mostly because I eat late at night or early in the morning when not much is open. I have never had an issue with the food here. It has always been good and fresh.
Keep in mind most people only review fast food joints when they have a negative experience. Negative experiences happen at fast food joints and Taco Cabana isn't the most operationally efficient place in general so it doesn't shock me when someone posts that they didn't get an item. Anytime I go to any Taco Cabana I always look at my items to ensure I got the correct order. At this location they have forgotten my guacamole when I've ordered a taco plate. It hasn't happened much but that sort of thing does happen at Taco Cabana (probably due to a massive menu and low paid workforce). It was no big deal because i caught it each time. Also, I've been on the positive end where they have given me my extra tortillas without charging me.
What blows my mind is how dead this place is at night. If you come here at 2am on a Saturday Night which is prime time for drunks to get some munchies, there may be 1 car in the drive-thru at most. What's mind blowing about this is that there will be 8+ cars at the whataburger less than a block away on the same service road (negative review forthcoming on that place).
BTW, at Taco Cabana the level of service you receive is highly dependent on the crew working there. This location has had a lot of turnover in the past year so some of the negative reviews about service may not be valid. What I will say is that the late night crew is very good and I don't have issues with them.
In terms of the food, it's really good for fast food. Fresh tortillas, mutliple salsa choices, great bean and cheese tacos, good barbacoa tacos. I tend to avoid steak tacos at TC these days albeit I did have a couple steak and egg tacos that were really good and reminded me of the days when I used to always love to get the steak fajita plate (those days are long gone though..perhaps it varies greatly based on how it...
Read moreI usually go there every week in regular bases. I usually go there during the day-time. However, I and my girlfriend decided to go there this evening (8/16/2018, 8:30 PM). They had a whole new different staff for the evening hours. We ordered 4 steak tacos. We had 4 extra tortillas, so we had 8 tacos to consume. Last time when we were there, we were using small bowls by the salad bar and was offered large containers so we don't have to use so many small bowls. This evening, I asked for a bigger bowl as usual. A young hispanic lady at the kitchen gave me 2 bowls. However, when I was getting the pico de gallo and cilantro, one older and short hispanic lady (in her 40s) came next to me and told me that they do not offer larger container. Then as I was sitting down and eating the tacos, a black lady in her 20s came with security guard telling me that they may charge extra bucks for larger container. I do not have ANY problem paying extra for extra cilantro or pico de gallo. The staff during the day asked me to use larger bowl instead of smaller bowl and the evening staff telling me to use smaller bowl instead of larger bowl. If they could have posted a sign at the salad bar to use small bowl or larger bowl, then it would prevent unnecessary confusion for customers. Another thing was, if they want extra bucks for extra pico de gallo, they could just told me that. They did not have to bring their security guard with gun standing next to them and telling me that they may charge extra bucks for the larger bowl of cilantro. I felt like they were ready to shoot someone over $2. Again, using a larger bowl instead of 8 smaller bowl has never been a problem. I do not know why all of the sudden it became such a big issue this evening. And telling me that twice was unnecessary. Telling me that with armed security guard with gun on his waist was totally...
Read moreMediocre food. Not impressed by the service AT ALL. Definitely dont go to this location if you're in a hurry. We walked in with one man in line ahead of us and as soon as he got to the front the cashier walked away to the back and ignored everyone for a good several minutes. In the mean time several other employees were meandering around doing various chores and also ignoring all customers in line and the several who were waiting for them to refill the ice machine. All in all at least 4 employees around and every one of them ignoring customers, the man ahead of us finally walked out deciding not to spend his money here. We should have followed his lead. When someone FINALLY came out to take our orders, I was given my order number and sat it on my table as I went to get a beverage (they were out of tea and I let them know, however by the end of my meal the canisters were still empty) and someone came and placed the wrong order on my table and took my number card. It ended up being the meal of a couple across the room who had been waiting a while for their food. Just a little customer service goes a long way in food service. I will probably not return to this location and I hope management picks up the pace and raises the standard of...
