I visited this restaurant with family based on high recommendations for their sushi. I've had sushi in Japan, China, and all up and down the west coast, so I love finding new spots, even if it's the basic Salmon/Tuna fare. The sushi was ok, but the service is the reason for this one star review. If I could give fewer stars I would. I ordered a bento box and the 5 piece nigiri sushi appetizer. It's priced at $8.50 on the menu as of July 2021 and says selections are made by the chef. I was startled when the waitress, Skyla, came back asking which pieces I wanted. I said, "The menu says it's chef's choice for the appetizer." She insisted I needed to choose my 5 pieces of sushi. I made sure it did not include the market price selections, and proceeded with the basic Salmon, tuna, yellowtail selections. I also ordered salmon roe, and ended up being served smelt roe instead. This should have been my next clue as to what we were about to experience. Much to my surprise, we get the bill, and my $8.50 appetizer got rung up as individual orders of nigiri sushi, which came to more than $30! It seemed to take Skyla forever to come back by our table to collect the check, and she seemed put off by the fact we were complaining about the bill. She said, "that's what you ordered and you ate it so you have to pay for it." I replied, "I ordered the appetizer, which should have been chef's choice, and I tried to clarify when you asked me which pieces I wanted." The debate continued. She tried to say that nigiri and sashimi are the same thing, and said that she didn't hear appetizer so we would have to pay based on what she rang up. Cue the call for the manager. She goes and talks to the manager and brings back a check with my sushi split off and a 20% discount applied, which essentially removed the tax and included tip. I insisted we were not paying more than 3 times the price for her mistake. Then the manager said they had to call their boss. Keep in mind all of this debate is about a $20 difference on a check totaling over $100 for our group of 6. The boss finally got them to ring it up as the appetizer, but it took all of that just to get a check stating what I had actually ordered. Buyer beware, read the ticket before you hand them your card. I'll be checking out any other sushi or hibachi place in the tri-state area before my shadow graces this place again.
TLDR: I ordered a $9 sushi appetizer. Waitress rang it up individually as more than $30 of sushi and we had to go up two levels in management before finally getting the...
Read moreCook split a drink all over my daughter and her food. Didnt even ask to replace it. Then the server which was not ours by the way noticed the drink all over put her hands in her pocket and walked away slowly bringing napkins. Our server disappeared for a while i ask another server for a napkin and he disappears. Now when drink spilt my sock and shoe was soaked in soda because i was sitting next to my daughter and gor like 3 min i sat there while our food was getting cold just watching the soda fall off the table. All these servers were standing around laighing and joking with each other while we were just sitting there waiting for someone to come clean or help up clean it up. I had to get up and get napkin from another table which is bull. I proceeded to go tell the manager and slipped because my foot was soaked but do you think anyone there cared? Nope not one person. I was telling the manager everything that happen amd he just looked at me and said nothing. So its time for us to pay and i reminded him what all happen and asked him if he was going to do something about the level of disrepect drom the servers and he flat oit told me they did everything they could for me which was a lie. I was so mad i left and let my husband deal with it. Now earlier my daughter who eats sushi and loves it choked on it and got sick . Now im sorry she choked it was not her fault but to tell the server that she spilt the drink when clearly it was the cook is wrong. Now he was probly new and thats ok im not mad at him im mad at the level of disrespect from the servers and manager. I will not eat at this place again to expensive for...
Read moreWe have come here for many years, and never had a bad experience. What a difference a year makes. Don’t get me wrong, the food is amazing. The service has been just awful the last few times. We came here yesterday for my daughter’s birthday. There are no menus. Before we could even sit down, our waiter starts barking at me about the QR code I need to scan to access the menu. Calm down. There’s literally only 2 other people in the restaurant, what’s the hurry? The online sushi menu only had about 7 or 8 rolls listed out of the 100 they actually have. So I ask if these are there are other rolls available. “Oh yeah! They are all available!” Good thing I sorta knew which one we wanted. He brought our drinks and I swear literally disappeared. Did not see him again until he brought the check. No drink refill. Nothing. Had to put on my mask, walk to the bar, and ask for chopsticks, then boxes, then a drink cup. The next couple got physical menus and had TWO servers refilling drink after drink, bagging up their boxes, just two tables away. I’m sure they had a great experience. I’m sorry, but for $55, I couldn’t even get our waiter to look up from his phone as he walked back to the kitchen. I still left a tip for the girl who was running the cash register who was trying to help, but she was doing 3 jobs. After probably 15 years or more, that’s our last time. My daughter loved her dinner, but we couldn’t enjoy our meal trying to serve ourselves sitting there while our food got cold waiting on utensils. 5 star food. 1...
