To start with, we had to wait on the front desk clerk to arrive with her lunch 30 mins after arriving. Our rooms were clean. But the room had this odor to it. Made my allergies start up. But after being there for a while it got a little less pungent and I was trying to make the best. Went to the pool with my 12 yr old and my mom, after about 10 mins of swimming my child said momma I don’t feel ok? I’m gonna get out I’m getting dizzy. Tried to get out and fell on to the lounge chairs. Didn’t get hurt! But I noticed My head was starting my pound and I realized, that motor in the pool closet is giving off C02. ( it was really loud and vibrating the door) I inform the clerk. She said she didn’t smell anything. I added that our room smelled like sweat and mildew. She brushed me off and sent housekeeping up. They said they didn’t smell anything. Nothing out of the way. My allergies continue to get worse. I take an anti histamine trying to talk my self through it. Waited for her to call back with another room. She didn’t I had to go down and find her. She said she didn’t have any available rooms and only had a king bed. I said ok so you have a cot? I’m not allowed… I said I will attempt to smell the “new”. Room. She said lady don’t get an attitude with me. I(my daughter started recording at that moment) I said you will let me check out of this hotel for free (being there for 2hrs total) she said no, you will have to wait 1 business day to get your money. At this point HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS AFter readying all these complaints about the same exact thing I’ve experienced. You need to get your Dalton location under control. The air conditioners are toxic. And I know we were exposed in that pool room. I LEFT WITHOUT A REFUND. TbC *side bar. We are from Cleveland TN And only wanted a mini vacation away from the house for state testing. Just a two day stay in the “nicest” place in town. It waS disturbing how she brushed me off. She couldn’t have cared less. She ended up trying to be nicer at the end. After being so awful. But I really don’t think that was good enough lady. AND I HAVE AUDIO!!!! Yall just come to Cleveland. It’s cleaner. It’s a beautiful area Tons of business,and lots of customers there. Read moreThere is long black hairs on the wall- probably stuck to the wall in the bathroom. Up above the mirror and on the upper right side by the mirror in the bathroom. I took pictures and will share if you want to see them. I guarantee if you go to the room, these black hairs will still be on the wall above the mirror and on the upper right side.
HOWEVER, that is not the main issue. I am totally deaf, single sided deafness. I have a cochlear implant that helps. I have a trained service animal that goes with me 24/7. My husband took him downstairs to go go outside to use the bathroom. As he was going out the door, some people were coming in the door. It startled him and he barked. My husband apologized and he proceeded outside. When he was coming back in the door an employee was coming iut. He barked at her. My husband again apologized that he was startled when someone comes out of nowhere. The employee said we heard him bark down the hall. He said this is my wife’s service animal. She said Service Animals don’t bark. She said “if we receive any complaints, you will be asked to leave - check out if the hotel. I was devastated!! My service animal is trained to bark, he has been to training school to protect me! At times someone can walk right up to me, especially from behind and I have no idea they are behind me. How is a service dog supposed to notify me? He can not tap me on the leg to tell me someone is coming! I called the customer service department with IHG and reported this. Read moreI actually left before 4 am.. as I never could get to sleep, the highway traffic was immediately next to my bedroom window! SO noisy all night long. PLUS for some unknown reason they assigned me to a handicap room, which was not comfortable either. Everything was located too close to the floor! I could never get the temperature to a comfortable level, as the thermostat was located only 3 feet from the FLOOR!
When I complained at the front desk as I was leaving, the woman could not find me in the computer system. She could not operate the computer either! She stated she was going discount my stay, but since she had no computer skills, and could not locate my reservation (I am a member AND booked under my number, so I WAS in the system). Additionally, I was extremely offended by her lack of undergarments! This woman was not wearing a bra or even enough of a shirt to conceal her breasts! It was so terribly unprofessional I was beside myself and left quickly so I didn't have to "look" at her! SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!
That morning my truck was blocked in with 6 inches of space on either side of my truck to get in and out! I had to actually climb into the truck through the window. This was a MISERABLE experience overall....
