I’m a disabled combat veteran and have a fully trained service dog. I came to this location early in the morning, grabbed a croissant sandwich, coffee, and a dozen donuts to go. I sat down to enjoy my food and was there for less than 10 minutes. Just as I was finishing, a staff member rudely told me I had to leave because of my service dog. He claimed he “thought we were just grabbing and going” — as if my right to have a service animal depends on how long I stay. They pointed at a generic “no dogs allowed” sign on their door as if that overrides federal ADA law. News flash: it doesn’t. The lack of understanding and blatant disregard for disability rights is unacceptable. The staff were not only dismissive — they barely spoke enough English to even attempt a respectful conversation, let alone handle the situation properly. I asked for the manager, but clearly no one on site was trained or qualified. On top of the discrimination, the place was filthy. Floors had debris and stains first thing in the morning, which says a lot about their hygiene and standards. This business needs serious education on federal disability laws and a complete overhaul of its customer service mindset. Save your money. Go somewhere that treats people — and veterans — with dignity.

After completing the Lake Merced loop, we were craving donuts and unfortunately went to George's on West Portal based on the recent hype (don’t go there). Since it was lunch time, they only had donut holes and were a 15-minute ready-to-order wait. No thanks. Went to yelp to find a no frills donut shop nearby and thanks to great yelpers, we landed at Top of the Hill Cafe and were not disappointed. And by no frills, I mean that in the best way. There are things in life that are better enjoyed in the simplest form: burgers, bloody marys and yes, donuts. Right away, the pink striped boxes in the window were a clear sign that this shop knows their donuts. It's a small place, but very clean and with some seats if you want to sit and enjoy. Their donut selection is very good, there is something for everyone's taste. The donut that completely blew us away: THE CRUNCH DONUT. Wow. It is guaranteed the best most unforgettable donut we've had in a long time. Tastes like something served in an expensive place with 10x the markup. But hey, $2 for a donut here is the real deal. Cannot wait to get a dozen crunch donuts next time. Super impressed at this local gem. Support them!!

I have been here many times mainly when I am craving for a doughnut or when I am in the area where I am in need of a quick bite. They have a wide selection of fresh doughnuts made daily, sandwiches, coffee, refrigerated drinks and much more. The staffs here are very welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never had encountered an issue during any of my visits. You can dine in at one of their tables or simply purchase for takeout if you decide to. I have to say this place is a plus, because there are little to none doughnut shops within the area. I highly recommend this place to all doughnut enthusiasts, if you need a quick snack for the morning of if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.
