This restaurant is pretty good, but the prices are a bit over what it would take to get me back in to try something else.
The Food: Me and my wife both ordered their French toast, since it was ranked as “the best French toast in OC” in 2023 supposedly. I was pretty disappointed to be honest. The fruit on the toast was a bit overwhelming due to the amount, and didn’t add a whole lot to the flavor. It was very organic tasting however. I didn’t feel overwhelmed with artificial sweeteners, like some restaurants throw onto their French toast which was a positive. The fruit itself, however, was not the most flavorful fruit I’ve had. It left something to be wished for. The texture of the toast was very nice. The toast itself I had no complaints with. And I will also revisit the topic of the fruit again, I don’t know if it was the apples, the almonds or the mango purée, and it sounds dastardly to put it this way, but it is what I felt in the moment, something of those three tasted slightly of the smell you get of an outdoor dog that’s been drenched in water. I know the smell well from the farm that I grew up on. It was a tad un appetizing.
The scrambled eggs were a tad too raw for me. Granted, I did not tell the Cook to scramble them hard. But they ultimately were pretty un enjoyable for myself.
My Irish coffee was very underpowered. I can genuinely say that was one of the worst $11 I’ve spent on a drink as far as value is concerned.
The Service: The service on the other hand was very nice. We were greeted warmly and attended to promptly. The server and our hostess were both very down to earth enjoyable people to be around and if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t of left the tip that I did, because they genuinely deserved it.
The atmosphere: The atmosphere was also pretty nice. And we really enjoyed their seating arrangements, table cloths and their utensils. Everything was very boutique looking.
In the end, as you see on the receipt, I spent upwards of $60 on the meal, and it left me very unimpressed. I applaud the servers, but unfortunately will probably not be back here due to the culinary experience.
(Another side note about the French toast. It came with possibly some of the worst maple syrup I’ve had in my life. It was like the owner just got a 70 gallon drum of aunt Jemima syrup from Big Lots to use for every table. For prices like this, I would expect high-quality organic maple syrup, and that maple syrup made me very...
Read moreWe ate here twice out of the three mornings we went for breakfast and four day stay in the area. The man who's here in the morning was on top of IT! With the two children and another couple we were with and the 6 other parties I'm amazed at his attention to detail.
This brings me to the food - So GREAT. The crab omelette and the crepe bonne maman was already split for us because my partner and I were going to share it. This was so thoughtful. It was delicious and perfectly hit the spot. My cousin and her husband had the crab omelette and a salmon dish with capers that was also very delicious and left them satisfied.
Our second visit I simply had eggs with a croissant and my partner had a prosciutto Benedict - as soon as I saw his potatoes I had to steal them because they are so good and I didn't remember how much I savored them the first visit. Soft and flavorful on the inside but has this perfect crispy goodness on the outside. I couldn't stop smiling about the chef being wonderful and needing to take her on the flight home with us. And this was before getting to the most perfect flaky croissant I've ever had. It was like a cloud on the inside and fluffy....
This place is just awesome.
Favorite breakfast spot in the area hands down for the thoughtfulness in the attention to detail and the fresh flavorful food. The chef and the waiter here were...
Read morePoor customer service and food. I ordered the Le French Toast de Tahiti. The description on the menu was coconut dipped brioche and seasonal fruits and whip cream. The order came and my first thought was that there must have been a shortage of fruit and coconut that day in Southern California. I couldn't see any fruit or coconut. It looked like French toast loaded with whip cream. I took a bite and did not taste any fruit or coconut. I moved some of the whip cream over and I saw that there was a few pineapple squares that resembled pineapple from a can. There was also one strawberry. The waitress never came to the table to check on me so I had to hunt her down. Once I was able to locate her I mentioned my concern about the dish based on the description on the menu and the waitress did not seem to care. I felt as though I was inconveniencing her. I left the restaurant feeling like I got ripped off. That meal cost me $20. Very Disappointed. Will...
