Wife and I had a day in Dana Point and wanted some coffee. Looked at the reviews of this place and it looked good. I will say off rip, some of the best decor I have ever seen in a cafe. Books everywhere, creative designs choices, paintings of the classics on the walls and even in the bathroom. They had an idea, executed it, and it came out great. Atmosphere for sure gets a 10/10.
As for service, it was fine. Dude taking my order was fine, and did his job. So I would say the service was just fine. I did notice that it seems to be a family owned business, which is always great. I ordered a Matcha Latte, my wife ordered a blended mocha. I try not to assume anything about any business, but sometimes you can tell when places are better at making coffee than tea, vice versa, or when they are good at making both. This was one of the places where I could feel they probably make better coffee than tea. I got my matcha and I could tell by the color, it was either gonna be bad or just alright. It was alright! I ordered mine half sweet, but it had a very strong vanilla and milk flavor rather than a umami matcha flavor. Which isn't always bad, but it was a lot of sweet and milk than actual tea. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, they did have a bit of a rush in their drive thru. But for something that was just mediocre and 7 bucks.. I just would get something else next time.
Although my wife's blended mocha was VERY good. Great blended texture, perfect mix of coffee and mocha. Very refreshing. Something I would get here next time.
Beautiful decor, kind of iffy location for parking and such, fine service....
Read moreTerrible from the start. Came in with a girlfriend for a quick cup on a quiet evening. The girl who took our order barely had basic manners, let alone any customer service skills. She was clearly annoyed that she was being made to do her job at all. We waited for the order for a long time. Finally got it and mine was labeled like it was made wrong. So we went to the counter to ask about it. Waited several minutes just to get someone’s attention cause because all the kids were goofing around in the kitchen in the back. A customer came in and a boy slowly took his order, not even acknowledging us standing there waiting. We finally get to ask for the order to be remade. Wait forever again. Another customer mistakenly took it cause they never called our name or wrote it in the cup. So we ask for it made AGAIN. Boy was the girl annoyed now!..As if the situation was somehow our fault. Finally get my drink. The coffee is burnt and disgusting. Undrinkable. A few min later, a boy comes out and says to everyone there that they’re closed and we need to leave “ASAP.” Seriously? The kids running the place couldn’t give a damn about anything but themselves. It was like a bad joke from start to finish. Won’t step foot in...
Read moreI've been there twice so far. This place is excellent in all respects. Here's the list of things that make this place great: Awesome coffee drinks. I tried espresso and latte. It's served in fine ceramic cups Great choice of pastries Interior is great, and the place is really cozy. Wooden walls, fireplace, nice leather chairs and a couch Books. This place has I would guess a couple hundred titles. Plus magazines. Everything is free to read Great service. Baristas are super polite Free wi-fi internet Nice patio with tables (though it faces PCH so may be a little loud when bikes pass) People who come there all seem to be from the upper society. In Starbucks next door is a very different crowd Their JC Bean currency. I wanted to buy a gift card, but instead they sell these pieces of paper that look like money, and you can pay with them. Pretty sweet. I bought 10 and they put them in a paper bag. Pretty cool concept. Anyway, this is definitely a great place to come, sip coffee and chat, read a book or play a game of chess. Good...
