My husband and I decided to stop by this restaurant to try their happy hour menu. We ordered a few items off of the happy hour menu at the register and took a seat at a nearby table. Shortly after, we heard the woman who rang us up telling another customer that she would ring him up in 6 minutes so that he could get the happy hour pricing. I immediately checked my receipt and noticed that I was charged their regular prices instead of the happy hour prices. We were confused because we ordered directly off the happy hour and was never told that the happy hour did not start yet. Their website states that their happy hour is from 3-5, so I went up to the register to ask them about the charges.
I was "helped" by the most rude and incompetent employee that I've encountered. He was a short, Hispanic male (he wasn't important enough to catch his name). I asked him about the charges. Not only did he not honor the happy hour prices (as stated as stating at 3pm-see attached screen shot from their website), he immediately began to belittle and insult me. He just said, "well that sucks...did you read the time." I told him that the website states it started at 3, but he continued to hurl insults at me challenging my intelligence. Once he began getting in my face and swerving his neck at me saying things like, "make sure you look both ways before you cross the street" I just walked away. I wasn't about to sit there and argue with this misogynistic loser. He continued to aggressively insult me even as I walked away back to my table. I asked him to cancel my order by he refused. He stated that I wasn't getting scammed...umm no one said that I was, or so I thought. He obviously hates his job and gets off on insulting people in this empty cafe.
When my husband came back from the car I told him what happened and he went up to the cashier and asked him to cancel our order. Like a mouse, he immediately cancelled our order. This man came back and gave us a partial refund and stated that he gave us, "all of our money back". I didn't trust him, so I checked my receipt again and noticed that he only gave us a partial refund! We had not been served a single morsel of food, so why the partial refund? Then I went back up the cashier and I told him that he needs to give all of our money back. Clearly this guy hasn't passed the fifth grade and likely can't read or do simple math. After giving us the rest of our money back, he walked away and made another rude comment to one of the other employees.
He was obviously trying to scam us, contrary to what he said earlier. I guess that is the only way this empty restaurant can keep the lights on. I will never step foot in this establish again. I have told all of my friends and family about this place. No wonder this place was so empty on a beautiful Friday afternoon when the other restaurants around here...
Read moreI was looking for a nice breakfast spot in Dana Point with an ocean view, and this place came up. We booked a table, and while it didn’t have an ocean view, it was located in the cutest shopping center I’d never visited before, even after living in Orange County for many years. Honestly, it felt like I had traveled to a different city.
When I arrived, my reservation simply meant I was guaranteed a table, but the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, so I think I would have gotten one anyway. We were seated right outside, which was lovely. The surrounding shopping center area was cozy and charming, and the food was amazing.
We heard their Eggs Benedict was highly recommended, so we ordered two different kinds: the California and the classic (with added avocado). Both came with a side—we opted for the soup, which was delicious. We also tried the crepes, which were just as good. Overall, the flavors and presentation were excellent, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch.
The only drawback was the ordering process. Even with a reservation, you have to stand in the same line as everyone else to place your order at the counter. It’s not necessarily long because of the crowd,it’s just that the counter also handles pastry sales, cake orders, and even wedding cake consultations. For example, the person in front of us was trying to place a custom cake order, which took a while. Thankfully, after a few minutes, the friendly cashier took our order while they waited for him to finish. Still, I wish they had servers to take orders at the tables, which would make the experience perfect.
In the end, I’d still recommend this spot, charming location, excellent food, and a pleasant vibe for a...
Read moreI have been to this establishment several times, but my experience last night compelled me to post a review. I am a Dana Point local resident. The restaurant is typically good. Food is good quality and the wait staff IS excellent for meals. I don't think that their promoted "organic and sustainable menu" is actually what it is touted to be...But that is not my issue here. We arrived on Sunday night at 7:50 pm, with a guest from out of town. Their hours for Sunday are listed to be open until 10pm, with dinner being served until 9pm. We just wanted to take a few desserts to go from the display case. Seemed pretty simple.... When we entered the girl behind the counter was chatting with a colleague. She informed us that they were closed. We asked ifwe could just get a few things to go, and she told us that the registers had been shut down already, and they could not ring us up for any purchase. Thought it was strange, being just before 8pm, and inquired about their hours of operation online.
To the owner: I will not return to what a dish, which is a shame. I wanted to spend money at your establishment, and was told I could not, during what are listed as normal hours of operation. I will not trouble myself with this type of misinformation or experience in the future.
