Bambu Hibachi Sushi and Bar — Restaurant in Danbury

This is the MOST UNCIVILIZED sushi restaurant I've ever been to. It really can't call itself a sushi restaurant . . . It's actually a sports bar that serves sushi . . . Mediocre sushi at that. And the service is nonexistent. My girlfriend and I went there thinking we'd get a quiet, small, and time-reasonable dinner . . . HAHAHAHAHA She ordered a Golden Roll, dumplings, a diet coke and a beer. I ordered a tea and seltzer water, later ordering some miso soup because I was feeling a little under the weather. I received my seltzer and tea in a reasonable time, my girlfriend got her beer and dumplings, then I got my soup. Meanwhile, the table next to us ordered a sushi boat . . . A businessman, his wife (presumably), and a five year old with an oh so current faux hawk. But I digress. After an HOUR AND A HALF, we still hadn't received her diet coke or her Golden Roll. I talked to the hostess and she said she'd talk with the manager, who came to talk to my girlfriend after I left and comped the meal. About ten minutes after I left, my girlfriend texted me to tell me that her food arrived and she would be back to the hotel soon. If you're wondering why we are staying in a hotel . . . Her mother died last weekend and we are making end of life arrangements. So, my personal recommendation, don't bother with going to Bambu unless: A) You're a puffed up businessman encouraging your five year old to wear a hairstyle from 1988 or B) You have a whole night to waste for a house special...

If I could give no stars, I would In a heartbeat. This place is so trash idk why this place has such high rating because they are racist and don’t care about their customers. I came with my family, party of 10, we had a 630 reservation. Everyone showed up at 640 and we were seated right after another large party. Then a party of 5 came and they were also seated. We waiting about 40 mins before even getting our drinks and we only got them because one of us brought it to their attention that no one had come to check on us. Then we asked if we could put in our food orders while the drinks were being taken since we had been waiting so long and the guy (who was visibly annoyed that we had the audacity to ask for drinks) told us no, he was only taking drinks. We then kept waiting and were never brought our soups or salads, but the party that was seated after us already had drinks and their soups and salads and they also got to place their order. They only had one hibachi cook and then he started cooking for the first party that arrived. We were completely ignored and it can’t be a coincidence that we were Latinos and the other table were white people. We decided to leave because at this point we had been waiting an hour and still didn’t have any food or appetizers. They then had the gall to charge for the drinks instead of being apologetic and irresponsible for cooking multiple hibachi and only one cook. We used to come all the time for events, never...

Since moving to Danbury from NY in 2020 this has been the only consistent sushi place we could find. We would order take out once every 1-2 weeks. It wasn’t outstanding but it was decent and consistent. At the end of June we ordered take out and it was outstanding, everything was above top notch quality. We thought maybe the owner had changed. Then we went on vacation and when we returned at the beginning of July we couldn’t wait to order from here again. When we did order, we ended up throwing half the food away. It was awful. Sushi was not fresh at all, a lot of the fish smelled spoiled, soft shell crab was rotten, sauces were missing. We ordered again during August it was somewhat ok but not the consistency we are used to. We ordered again last night and we threw out most of the food. There is a dish soap taste in their brown sauce, the eel is sour from going bad, soft shell crab made my mouth numb from being old and spoiled. Such a shame as I wish it would go back to how it was before. I will really miss this place but I’m tired of giving it so many chances. 3x in a row is enough for me. Also it doesn’t help how rude the staff are, the hostesses really feel bothered when you talk to them. I hope this place can get it together but we will not be returning. Sadly we will no longer be loyal...
