It's not often you find a place where the atmosphere, food, and people are of such exceptional quality. We stopped in for a Saturday evening dinner and could not be more pleased at that decision.
First and foremost, the staff and owners could not be warmer, kinder people. Although it was a fairly busy evening, Xay and Joy both stopped by to welcome and make us feel at home. To start off we went with Summer Rolls and Hai Gun, both of which were presented and crafted with care. The chili sauce was an excellent blend of flavor, and the peanut sauce was an extremely pleasant surprise.
Mains were Pad Kee Mao and Mee Crob, either of which could be used as an ambassador to someone unfamiliar with the cuisine. While it may seem like an odd thing to comment on, the consistency of the gravy in the Mee Crob could not have been more perfect, lifting a bit of rice noodle would reveal a completely clean plate beneath.
Unfortunately we were far too full to indulge in the desert options, but the Thai coffee was a great note to end the evening on.
Tl;dr: I would highly recommend going to eat with these delightful...
Read moreWe visited Xay’s Kitchen on our half way to Kent with extreme hunger and felt satisfied with their service and food. The exterior is humble and easy to miss.
The owner was super friendly, welcoming and introduced their menu in details. We are familiar with Thai food but not the cuisine from Lao and she recommended us to try some authentic Laotian dishes.
We ordered Xay’s Sampler which included 5 different appetizers, Nam Khao and Thai tea. The food was amazingly delicious and appetizing in this hot & humid weather. Our favorite was the Hai Gun from the Sampler and there is also a single order option on the menu.
The Hai Gun was fried, made with shrimp, pork wonton and wrapped in rice paper. It was fried well with crispy layer and is super juicy and tender inside. It’s similar to fried shrimp roll but it’s the best one I have ever had in the US.
The owner mentioned dine-in will be allowed from June 17th. We will definitely visit again in the near future even though the drive is 2.5 hours for us...
Read moreUsed to live in the area, this is a great area in general for food so we had high expectations walking in. It's very clean and well decorated, nice paintings but not full of trinkets. The food was 10/10. We got deep fried pork and shrimp spring rolls as an app, thai iced tea and coffee, hot green tea, tom kha gai soup, and beef/shrimp pad kee mao. Their "spicy" IS actually spicy, so order accordingly! The soup was incredible, as were those little rolls! We got all that food for under $40!!! And our server was an English speaking girl named Liberty who was very prompt and polite, and made it a very pleasant experience overall. They are very respectfully keeping people apart (they sat us as far from the other people as they could, and continued to seat in that way accordingly as people continued to enter). Overall very very happy with this place, will be back to try some...
