We visited the restaurant on Saturday, October 14, 2017 for our 22nd wedding anniversary. Overall the food, service and salad bar were pretty good. The filets were cooked correctly, tender and tasty and the salad bar was pretty good (except for the corn dish in Italian dressing....what's up with that?). One issue we did have is we did request two more rolls when we received our meals but we never did receive them.
However, a few things could be improved. We expected to wait and were not surprised when we arrived and were told that it would be 40 to 45 minutes. However, when it took an hour and 15 minutes to be seated, I think they could have done better with timing. From what we were told when we asked at the hour mark about how much longer it would be, they do not take people first come first serve. They seat the larger parties of people ahead of parties of two. Therefore, we kept getting pushed down the line. I understand you might make more $ from larger tables, but that does not sit well with the others that we spoke with that night. Seating should be first come first serve, period!
Yes, it was cold in the restaurant. Actually, really cold. This seems to have been noticed by more than one person in the reviews. From my understanding, if it is a cold in the restaurant, people do not sit around when the meal is over as they are uncomfortable. Therefore, you turn tables over faster.
The biggest gripe I have about the evening is we had the issue that we were seated next to the drink refill/order entering station. It seems that this is the place that servers gather when the have some free time. And during our visit, it seems that many servers had some free time. One, this makes the area very congested at times but the conversation going on in this area is inappropriate when people are dining right next to you.
I got to hear servers complain about management as well as guests and some of the comments contained foul language. There were also some complaints about other servers and the kitchen as they kept running out of stuff like glasses. Also, it became quite clear that one of the male servers was very interested in one of the female (maybe more than one?) servers as I kept hearing him requesting a massage or back rub. I suggest either moving this station to an area when it is not close to the tables or give a refresher course on proper server etiquette.
Overall, it was ok but a little pricey. I would go back but will not be in a hurry to do so and might visit other...
Read moreTook my dear friend visiting from Arizona to Cattleman's Roadhouse and was pleasantly surprised and pleased as it was good, friendly.. the young African-American hostess who greeted and seated us was very nice and the service by Layla was truly exceptional! I was very surprised to see these studious African-American women there and that made me glad. LAYLA was so outstanding I had to have her call the manager and extoll her service and attitude. We were very proud of here.i had read some reviews of slow disinterested service etc.; but thankfully...did not experience ONE iota of attitude. The food was ok but the salad bar did not live up to the hype. It's just also ran...nothing outstanding or exceptional. The items were plentiful but simply did not look appetizing nor fresh. Won't be getting THAT again The rib eye was good and cooked as I requested...and I'm glad I got the loaded mashed potatoes...as I do think their so called premium sides are a little pricey. All in all, a very very good experience. I'll go back and get their biggest steak though I don't like it's name...THE SHERIFF... but I'm in Kentucky and not my native home town of Washington DC so they need to recognize... but the SHERIFF needs to be a steak on my plate and not trying to arrest me for some bogus charge. In any event, my visiting friend and I enjoyed our visit to Cattleman's as well as the food and service. I'll return and hope I get Layla's excellent service...
Read moreI need to preface this review... 1) I eat a vegetarian diet (no meat). 2) We have not had a good Mother's Day lunch for several years at restaurants in Danville.
On Mother's Day Sunday this year, Momma chose Cattleman's for her lunch/dinner. The place was packed. There was literally no parking & people were lined up & down the side streets parking. We got in line - they told us 20 minutes - 4 of us. We were shocked - we just knew it was gonna be at least an hour wait. And we were seated within 10-15 minutes! Say what?
We had drink & food orders taken promptly by a female server with very cool arm ink. She was super friendly & didn't seemed at all bothered by the incredible amount of people in the place.
We got the buffet & some got steak meals. Buffet was fully stocked, fresh, delicious & filled up our very hungry vegetarian stomachs! Mom's steak was cooked to perfection she said & it came out in a timely manner.
Best Mother's Day lunch experience in Danville that we have ever had! Overall experience probably in our top 10 restaurant experiences! And us vegetarians loved the veggie options that they had!
If you're there go! If you've been, go back! These folks know how to...
