I was there as a member of a dynamic activist group, Indivisible, a wonderful committed and beautiful ❤️ group of concerned citizens here in Danville/Boyle. I am an AFRICAN-AMERICAN member of the group. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was busy...I did not know where the Indivisible party was seated and needed some direction So I awarkdly stood....several of the people who work there quite frankly ignored me and didn't offer to help me or offer to seat me. Finally, someone came and told me I could follow the "path" to the back where they were seated...he did not offer to lead me there but I'm a resourceful Black woman so I was just as sarcastic as he was and found my way to my party. In short, I enjoyed the time with my Indivisible colleagues but was not impressed with my reception by the staff. The food was okay.. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and they were jumbo.. but the refried beans were too too salty. Our waitress, Rebecca, was a true waitress gem, attentive, promptly took my order and my special requests, smiling and jovial...and I tipped her accordingly as I know my colleagues did. So while everything was basically mediocre for me, the ambiance and being with my peeps was fun. I might go back... but as before, I WILL NOT allow them to treat me, in 2021, less than I deserve as a full fledged paying client who happens to be African American. They can't deny the differential treatment and they need to know and recognize that not only white people live and eat in Danville. I...
Read moreOne thing that really bothered me the first time I came to eat here was the restaurant manager had a lot to say about my race in Spanish. I knew he said something disgusting because he mentioned negra . Not sure if they realize brown ppl know negra means black. That really made me uncomfortable but I stuck it out and gave them a try . To be honest the food is very delicious, the atmosphere was very nice. But whoever the owner is he's very racist and that's pretty disgusting. Do what you want with that information it's been on my mind for a while and I should have spoken up then. Now I'm learning Spanish so I'll be able to clap back 🤧 .Nothing cool about being racist it makes you another ugly...
Read moreI have typically enjoyed this restaurant, but this visit was not the best. My daughter asked to substitute shrimp for chicken in her Hawaiian fajita which happened. I ordered a $5 chicken/cheese quesadilla and drank water. After adding nearly $5 for a tip, I paid $40 for this meal. They charged $7 for the shrimp and this wouldn't have happened if we had been told. Queso, Hawaiian fajita, coke, water, and a chicken quesadilla was $40. When I asked about the charge I was simply told shrimp is more expensive. In my opinion, there should have been a slight charge or we should have been told. They kept the chicken and charged us for a full side of shrimp. Her meal alone...
