We were a party of 4 plus a toddler. We were at the restaurant on my recommendation. I have been to Joe and Mimma's one other time which was in 2018. I had a very good experience my first time there and wanted to share the experience with my family. Unfortunately, the experience today was uncomparable. We had a waitress by the name of Jamayia. For starters, she seemed almost immediately annoyed with any questions. She was unaware of the menu specials. There were two entrees being offered on special and she stated the name of one, but actually stated, "Something else, I don't know." She ignored our efforts to get her attention. She walked off constantly in mid sentence when we were speaking. She never offered any drink refills or checked to see if we needed anything until the end and time for the *check. She also never offered a [to go box]. I requested lemon with my water and that request was ignored. The color of my lemonade was completely different from my daughter's and we ordered the same thing (mine looked and tasted watered down). Our salmon was overdone. They neglected to bring the sauce to our table (which came with the meal). We had to request it. My grandson's lasagna was mostly cheese, hardly any pasta. Jamayia's piss poor attitude put a very bad damper on our meal. The entire experience was so horrible we will not be back. Good service is invaluable. We actually witnessed one server carrying drinks to a table and coughed over the drinks (needless to say, they were not wearing a mask). The restaurant attempted to bring a peace offering of two pieces of cake and a slight discount on the ticket but unfortunately the cake was not enough to compensate for Jamayia's poor disposition, rude and crude behavior, and lack of customer service. When she brought or basket of bread to the table, she just set it down and walked away. She returned a few mintes later with a bowl of something, set it down and walked away again (no explanation, no comment, just resentful service). We observed at others tables and she interacted very differently. We are generous tippers with good service and we always return with good service. Jamayia may not remember me, but I will never forget her or this experience. It pays to have good customer service. It pays to have good food. I am saddened at this experience today. For the restaurant and servers, you never know who is walking through your door. Everyone should be given the same good quality of service. If I could give this restaurant a score today, it...
Read moreWe were on our way home from skiing, were passing through Danville and were looking for a good place to eat, as the children were starving. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. When we walked through the door, we knew that we had found the real deal. Being from Pittsburgh, finding real Italian food in the South is an absolute treat. We sat down and our sweet waitress, Dixie, was at the table in a second....and if you are going to eat here, you DEFINITELY want to have Dixie serve you. She was sweet, hilarious and completely took care of us! They had delicious pastas with incredible sauces, wonderful pizza with so many toppings to chose from and a fantastic salad bar, which was super delicious and healthy. The salad bar was fresh, with gorgeous mixed greens, lots of vegetables (every color of the rainbow, says my daughter), with beets, carrot , apples, tomatoes, spinach and more! Their desserts were incredible their tiramisu was the best dessert we have ever put in our mouths. It was the by far the best Italian meal I have had in years and for sure the best Italian food my children, who have been raised in the South, have eaten in their lives! You MUST eat at Joe and Mimma's, not only for their delicious food, but for the chance to meet...
Read moreOur party came here for a simple early Mother's Day lunch because the restaurant has good reviews. However, this was by far the WORST experience that I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. To start, our waitress, Jamayia, had a terrible attitude the entire time. She walked away from our table while we were in mid-sentence every time we asked a question. She never checked on our table until the end of the meal. She didn't provide plates for the bread, didn't offer drink refills, begrudgingly explained the specials for the day, and definitely didn't pay attention to our meal requests. When our meals finally came, two items were missing the sauce and our salmon was overcooked and dry. We had to request the sauce when we were finally able to catch her again because she didn't take the time to ask us about our orders when she delivered them. She literally set them on the table and immediately walked away while ignoring us when we began to ask about the sauce. She had an attitude on level 10 thousand the entire time. The restaurant did attempt to soften our terrible experience with free cake, which I didn't eat, and a discount on our meal. However, you can't put a price on good service and you can't make-up...
