Danville OpinionsDanville Opinions
The moment I stepped through the doors, it felt less like a restaurant and more like a grand arena of speed and precision. I tell you what—this has to be the fastest food in all of Danville, and at a price that feels almost enchanted. I strode boldly to the counter, ready to test my might against the whirlwind pace of their ordering system. Outside, the drive-thru roared like a dragon, busy and relentless, yet inside, the staff moved with the flawless unity of a battle-hardened guild. Before my family could even finish casting their orders, half of mine had already been summoned onto trays before me. Ten trays in under ten minutes—surely a record worthy of song! The workers weren’t just employees; they were a pit crew of champions, their coordination sharp as swordplay, their voices weaving together in perfect communication. It wasn’t just service—it was strategy, discipline, and a touch of magic. Truly, this was no ordinary meal. This was a performance of speed, precision, and mastery—fit for a tale told by travelers far and wide.

PSA No highchairs in this sit down establishment! Per the restaurant, it was too much of a liability. I figure the company doesn't actually care but I would not take my family back to Cookout. FYI they don't appear to be a franchise so I wouldn't go to any Cookout with small children even though the food seems like normal "kid" food. The floors were filthy even an hour after opening as if they hadn't been cleaned even the day before. Not enough staff to help customers quickly. Contrary to their sign, it isn't the best combo. Literally go across the street to Wendy's for a better deal.

First off, kudos for being understanding and professional during the lockdown and friendliness during the start of their remodel. The new inside looks very clean and sleek. Super friendly staff with the same welcoming environment. The only rela location critique I have is the Christian radio music is no longer playing, but that's a personal preference. As far as the food, burgers and tea were well done and on point. The hush puppies were passable, but the fries were a bit of a let down. All in all, a very wonderful visit and worth a repeat visit.

Normally have a great experience getting food through the drive thru. Usually the employees are awesome, last nigh however the girl was extremely unfriendly, then gave us someone else's receipt, thank goodness we didn't get hassled when we had to go inside to let them now they forgot t give us our chicken sandwich, it was literally bagged up an waiting for us although Rudy britches didn't even bother to give it to us. Basically I'm not a complainer because I understand they're usually always super busy n totally understand these things can happen, but it's extremely frustrating having to go inside because they forgot a whole sandwich. I feel like if I'd wanted to go inside the building to fight the huge crowd, I'd decided to order inside to began with. I hate to have to go in there when they are that busy because it's so packed n usually no where to go sit an you can move because there's people standing everywhere. Which is all good, but If Rudy pants had paid attention to what she was doing instead of wasting all of her excessive energy into being the hatefulest being I've ever came across at Cookout an we go there after, but this lady took the cake. I'm not sure of her name but we were there last night it was around 7:30 pm n she was running the drive thru. After having to find a parking spot in another businesses parking lot because Cookout didn't have any parking places left I had to park then go inside n fight the darn crowd anyways, which I was trying to avoid to began with. After arriving home I realized the two hot dogs that I order with only chili n onion's. Because my daughter will noveat anything with mayo mustard ketchup! Of course someone else in the back besides Rudy pants wasn't paying any attention either apparently because they squirted so much durn mustard on these hotdog's on the inside not mention the mustard whoever squirted all along the bottom of the bun on the outside of the bun mind you to boot. It was literally a nightmare of a visit to Cookout, because not only was we so dissatisfied with the rudness n forgotten sandwich which caused up to have to go inside, they just had to top of the night by adding mustard not only inside of the bun but all along the very bottom also. I mean really who in the world was working working during these hour's. Like I said I never ever complain but really. It was an all around horrible visit because after the nightmare was over my daughter didn't have nothing to eat because you can take mustard off of a bun. So she was so disappointed. As she had got to choose where we ate she chose Cookout an didn't even get to anything at all. Normally we have a great experience there not this night. So 2 🌟 is more than I should give buvi will because like I said normally, we don't have any issues an have n all around good experience, we never go inside though because we don't like to fight the crowd so I we do decide to come back anytime soon I'll personally make sure not only is everything inside the bag but I'll also open up each n everything to make sure the right condiments are on them as well. While sitting in the drive thru. Sorry in advance to anyone who's waiting behind me but that line inside is ridiculously long n you end up waiting thirty minutes to get something fixed because you can't get anywhere near the counter. So that way at the drive thru window if I notice anything missing or wrong I'll pass it right back inside that dang on window before I leave that place ever again. Not a Happy...

⭐ 1 Star — Extremely unprofessional and unsafe late-night service

I visited this Cook Out location around 2 AM on Sunday night / Monday morning (October 6th) and had an unacceptable experience with the three female employees working the shift.

From the very beginning, the service was poor. While placing my order, the employee at the window cut me off three different times, responded with “what?” in a rude tone, and when she handed me the food, she shut the window in my face without saying a word. I had to wave through the window just to say thank you and confirm that we had everything, because there was no verbal interaction or acknowledgment at all.

When we checked our food, both the sandwich and sides were wrong. We returned politely to ask for the correct items, but the employees laughed at us, made comments under their breath (loud enough for us to hear), and showed no professionalism.

Instead of remaking the sandwich, they simply removed the ingredients I am allergic to and handed the same one back. This is not only careless but also a serious food safety concern.

They did not replace the incorrect sides — they just removed them from the bag and never gave us the correct ones. Later, I had to return a third time to pick up the fries that were supposed to come with the order. Because we had eaten two hush puppies while waiting (after multiple trips back and forth), I was told I needed to pay again for the correct side. I paid, but the employees continued to laugh and make disrespectful remarks as I did so.

It’s not the end of the world — mistakes happen — but as a fellow business owner, I know how hard it is to find good staff. Still, if my employees ever acted this way toward a customer, I would absolutely want to know about it.

To the owner/manager: this location clearly needs attention. Cook Out is usually busy at that hour, but this one was nearly empty — and now I understand why. The staff on duty that night were unprofessional, dismissive, and turned what should have been a quick late-night meal into a genuinely unpleasant experience.

After reading other reviews, it seems like the day staff does a great job, but the night crew really needs some work. They come across as having a pack mentality, where the customers are the prey. I understand they may feel the need to flex the small amount of power they have in the only way available to them — but unfortunately, it’s the owner who ends up paying the price, as I know firsthand from having employees who sometimes fall short of expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. As you can tell by looking at my account, I’ve never left a bad review before, and I wouldn’t be doing so now unless I felt strongly about...

My family visited this location via the drive-thru a couple of days ago. We do not have Cookouts where we are from and are not familiar with the menu. After initially ordering and advancing in line, we realized we wanted to add a couple of items to our order. When we arrived at the window, I explained to the employee of what we wanted. Without saying a word, she slid the window closed very fast. A minute later she reappeared and opened the window. She then said forcefully "We are not taking add-ons at the window." She then stared at me. Assuming we could not add to the current order, I asked if I could make a new one. She then said no, that would be an add-on. I would have to drive around and get in line or I could go to the take-out window and make a new order. I was stunned how blunt and rude she was. I felt like I was in High School and the principal was laying the law down. She took my credit card, ran it, and then handed me my food. Not once did she say sorry or thank you. In hindsight, I realize she had gone to ask the manager and the manager probably said the could not accommodate me because of the line in the drive-thru. I would have appreciated this. An acceptable compromise would have to apologize but offer to take my additional order and then have me go pick it up at the take-out window. However, that option was not presented to me. I was very put-off by the employee's rudeness. I definitely did not feel like my business was appreciated. Considering that the food was mediocre and our experience, I would say I will not...
