I gave management a week to respond but they didn’t. Ordered $150 worth of food at 2:55. person on the phone said she needed to talk to the kitchen. Came back and said it would be ready at 3:30. Got there and paid at 3:33. After waiting 20 minutes I asked how much longer, and was told 10 more minutes. Frustrated, I asked, then what was the point of calling in the order? I was met with “I don’t know” before she turned to walk away. I snapped, “get me your manager.” Keep in mind it was not busy. A few people came and went, but employees were milling around and talking among themselves. Out walks a person who was working the back of the house claiming to be a Manager. I told them my concern, showing them the receipt and was met with “AND?” At that point I was angry and said, “what’s the point of ordering ahead of time?” They said, “you want your okra soggy?” I snapped, “NO I WANT MY ORDER READY WHEN YOU SAID.” They said, “ people don’t show up. You want yo money back?” I said NO, I have an hour drive and an 86 year old waiting for me to bring him this food…… after a few more exchanges I finally got my food. No apologies from anyone. I looked at my receipt later and was even charged a 10% service charge. I don’t know who does the hiring, but we won’t be back because of this encounter. It’s really upsetting considering we have used their catering more than once and planned to use it again for an event we are having. All that to say BEWARE if you order ahead or if you have an issue with an order. They will not care and have no idea how to speak to customers. And the owner who their email contact copied on my original request to discuss the issue will not respond beyond “how can...

Let’s start with the food. I ordered two platters, they include two sides each for about $15 each. Everything on the plate was mildly warm to cold. My ribs tasted ok but were barely warm. The Mac and cheese was cold and hardly had any cheese, the baked beans were barely warm and tasted like Bush’s baked beans with a twist, I could swear they’re canned. The corn bread was just not up to par with any restaurant made corn bread, just pretty awful.
Now my wife’s, she ordered the Sunday special, fried chicken platter with peach cobbler and mashed potatoes. The chicken was ok to Good but was such a small portion, she got a small thigh and what looked like 1/4 of a chicken breast. The peach cobbler was so poor and barely warm it was shameful as easy as it is to make a decent one.
The restaurant had been built on a large lot and the looks and feel are a dichotomy as it is pleasant in its look but so disconnected of service and care from the staff. There are no waiters, just servers that take your order and serve your food on the counter. You get buzzed when it’s ready and pick up your plates without a tray and hope you don’t bump into someone to knock your plates down to the floor and piss you off for paying $35 with no tip. Which brings me to another issue. Once you order and see your total on the screen the total comes up with the option of adding a 20% tip, an 18 and a 15. Or no tip in that order. I choose to leave nothing, you get no service why are you asking to leave a tip. Just damn wrong.
I was so disappointed and even though I live 5 minutes away I’ll be hard pressed to eat...
Read moreDriving along on I-10 on the way to Destin we were looking for dog friendly restaurant. Look at what we found half a block from the water set back into a wooded area. Moe’s BBQ. Blues music filled the moss covered parking lot. The sweet smell coming from the smoker told me I was in the right place. The outdoor patio was perfect to enjoy a cold beer and some the best BBQ I have ever had. Happy Birthday to me!
Let’s start with the sides. The corn bread was so delicate and moist with a sweet taste. Just like eating a freshly baked cake. If you are a fan of vinegar based coleslaw this is a must here. Freshly chopped cabbage, red onions, and green peppers marinated in seasonings and vinegar. The best I’ve ever had.
I could be happy just enjoying the sides. However I’m glad I didn’t stop there. My wife had the catfish. Best batter ever. Light flaky and seasoned to perfection. I just wish it was Sunday when the make fried chicken with it. I would place the catfish on top of my list to order when you come here. The ribs had just the right amount of dry rub and they were smoked until the meat falls off the bone. Now let’s talk about their sausage. They carry a very unique sauce that can only be found in this area of Alabama. The real thing! Mild but full of flavor.
Let me say that this is a hidden gem that should not be missed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Get off the HWY and take in a little Americana. Friendly staff that loves talking about their humble beginnings in Colorado.
One last thing! Check out their T-shirts. Left with two of the...
