Flour Water Salt Bread — Restaurant in Darien

I can't say enough good things about this place. They make the best sourdough bread I've ever had! They also make pizza here on Fridays, which I intend to try as soon as possible. I also order their ham and gruyere pinwheel here and they make the BEST coffee cake you will ever sink your teeth into, guaranteed.

I happen to have a gluten sensitivity and decided to try the products here after reading few articles about how the process of fermenting the sourdough batter breaks down most of the gluten. I've personally not experienced any digestive issues with the food here, which I am elated to report, though it's important to mention this was my own decision and no one from the establishment has encouraged me to do so. So, if you are gluten intolerant or allergic like me, use your own discretion. It's worked out perfectly fine for me and I will be a returning customer and love purchasing food here to bring to friends...

My family absolutely loves this place and we look forward to each weekly visit. Best bakery in the area, no question. Rivals any we’ve visited in the USA. Breads are the specialty and are excellent - the sourdough loaf and English muffins are weekly staples for my family. However, the pizzas and desserts/pastries are also standouts. Some dessert/pastry favorites of ours are the banana bread, croissants and cookies. The pizzas are terrific and have replaced those from local restaurants and pizzerias for my family’s Pizza Friday. great bread, however, if you want to pick up freshly baked bread the morning of, don't bother pre-ordering as you can still get stuck w/ bread baked previous days. i pre-ordered the night before to ensure freshly baked bread but got stale ones. i even asked at pickup. disappointing. also, pastries are good, not great, but ridiculously over-priced. won't be backi.
