I’ve always loved the food and decided to have my gender reveal at La Taqueria. The whole event was so unbelievably smooth, I couldn’t NOT leave an amazing review. Dennis and the staff were so easy going and helpful. I’m not much of a planner so setting a price per person and figuring out the menu the day of was perfect. The kitchen was fully prepared for anything we wanted. Guests RAVED about the food (shared a few screenshots as proof haha). It was the perfect event space for 40-50 people and I loved that I could have the entire place to myself. We had an afternoon celebration and Dennis even offered to let us stay longer at no extra charge (obviously before prime dinner time starts), but we didn’t even need it and appreciate that the staff never rushed us out. The kitchen kept the food and drinks coming, packed up leftovers and cake for us, and we didn’t have to do a single thing. We also had a little girl who has lots of dietary restrictions and the staff was super attentive. 100% would come back for another event. Even if you don’t need an event space, come...
Read moreBest meal I (and the family) have had in a long time. A first glance at the menu suggested we could legitimately order one of everything...and we almost did. And not one thing disappointed. Oh, this was so good.
The spicy guacamole was fresh and on point; the accompanying salsas were delicious (if also served in strangely small cups); the house salad, lovely and bright and so good; the rice and beans, perfect; every taco (fish, shrimp, carnitas, short rib) truly great, especially the fish taco--the best of its kind that I've had in a long, long time--and the short rib, which was magic. Both the house and skinny margaritas were excellent, both in pour and presentation.
You order as you enter the restaurant, then sit and everything is served. It was seamless and efficient. The place was packed and lively, all of which made for the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy my new favorite Mexican in CT.
I can't say enough about how great this spot is.
Just go. You'll be so...
Read moreMost importantly, the grilled chicken burrito was one of the best I've had (for East Coast). It actually had flavor unlike alot of places that just load you up with super bland rice and beans. No need to cover it in hot sauce to give it life.
I'm taking a star of mostly for the price. Fairly pricey for what my wife and I ordered (she got a few tacos) plus a soda. I understand this is Darien, so gotta pay the rich people premium. I'm from Stamford though, and not rich. I also prefer sitting first and having a server take my order, as opposed to ordering right when I step foot in the place. I just feel pressured to make a decision quickly with this more modern/progressive approach to ordering.
I'd go back for sure, but likely not as often as I would prefer to only cuz the...
