It's Saturday night, and every restaurant in the area has a line out the door....except Max's. It should have been our first clue, but we were starving. We walk in, and the place is really nice looking but, kind of dead and very small. We get to the hostest, who points us to a table. As we are walking over, the owner comes running up and says, "Someone said to sit here?! This table is dirty! Go back over there, and I'll get it cleaned." So we wait back by the hostest desk, where the owner is just running her mouth about how awful it was that we were almost sat at a dirty table. Saying the rudest things about her hostest to us...in front of the hostest. Most unprofessional thing I've ever seen.
Again, had we not been starving. We would have walked out right then.
So the owner seats us and pops back up on her bar stool and ignored us the rest of the night, even when we still didnt have drinks and she was walking back and forth past us for the lottery machine over and over.
So maybe 5 to 10 mins later, the same hostest came to take our drink orders. We had enough time with the menu, so put our whole order in at the same time.
I heard the salads were good and the clam cakes were great but my burger was WELL DONE and I am a red in the middle kinda gal so that was disappointing. The "handcut" French fries that you have to pay extra for and don't come with your burger. They were flavorless and stuck together like they've been freezer burnt at the bottom of the walk-in.
All in all, the staff was ok. I believe if an owner wants to actively belittle her staff while slaming them back, you could have at least offered some kind of customer service. corners were definitely cut in the food area, and the only empty restaurant really made...
Read moreAwesome burgers! We went for lunch on 2/11/17. My son had always said how good the burgers were (before they renovated and enlarged the restaurant). We decided to stop in and were able to get one of the last tables before the place filled up with people now waiting. Our waiter Brian was very nice and helpful with the menu as I had a question as to whether the burgers came with fries-it doesn't really state that on the menu, it shows 2 different price options and says "all burgers are recommended with fries" (you may want to fix that verbiage). I had the Full Monty(sauteed onions and mushrooms with choice of cheese)..it was outstanding! My son had a burger with bacon & lettuce which was also outstanding. The fries were good and fried nicely. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries (which was an additional .75 charge). I will say I was kind of disappointed in these as they were very long, thin onion strings and unfortunately very soggy and greasy(and not that hot)with the light batter falling off of a lot of them. The pile of these were huge but being so soggy I didn't eat to many and brought the rest home to have later and hopefully will crisp up. Overall I think the food was great and prices are reasonable. We will definitely...
Read moreGreat menu featuring creative hamburger varieties. French fries were very good! Mug of New England creamy style chowder was excellent.
Two of us had creamsicle and root beer concoction. Very good!
Loaded fries and another great hamburger were shared by the couple in our group.
Young mister J. D. Consumed a hamburger then finished with large order of "hot" wings! Sweat started 1/3 into the wings.
Service was very good and we found out our waitress concocted the creamsicle drinks, evidenced by the tiny splatters of white drops on her black company shirt as she explained minor delay of mixer malfunction! Everyone had a good laugh!
Highly recommended! My wife and I will go next week!🍔🍟🥃👍
Update: I loved the food so much, I went back with my wife two weeks later.
She love her Full Monty berger. We split fresh made onion rings and french fries. I ordered the Bacon Blue (cheese) berger again.
Great selections of regional micro breweries favorite beers. Served really cold.
Ordered chicken tenders to go for next day lunch.
My wife commented "it's better than F.ve G.ys national chain bergers.
Highly...
