Every now and then, I like a good burrito. Panchero's, Chipotle...I really like them all. I'd noticed recently on a stop at Little Caesars that the Dairy Queen that used to be here was now a California Burritos. Up until this point in my life, I hadn't tried nor even heard of this place. After an early out at work, though, I felt like a big burrito for a really late lunch.
This place strikes me as a pretty typical chain burrito place. The floors are entirely covered in large ceramic tile and there's a variety of table and booth seating available. The plenum in the ceiling is exposed, leaving the HVAC ductwork and conduit running throughout the space exposed. Strips of accent lights line the space at its periphery, highlighting the somewhat surreal paintings of hispanic people enjoying burritos (presumably from this restaurant?). It's a strange look to me - but it works. It is certainly unique, to say the least.
I opted for a steak burrito with Mexican rice, black beans, pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese. I ordered along the counter and paid at the register. I sat at one of the numerous tables in the restaurant and prepared to eat my recently acquired lunch while watching soccer on the lone TV in the corner. The burrito was of acceptable quality - the steak was tender, the Mexican rice added some additional tomato and spice flavor, and the texture throughout was homogenous. Overall, a good burrito by any set of standards.
I still prefer Panchero's or Chipotle, but I like what I had here today, as well. I wouldn't avoid California Burritos in the future, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to have this again. Thanks,...
ย ย ย Read moreThis was our first time here but we Will be back! This food was Muy, muy, Delicioso y'all! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ They have some of Thee Best tasting, juiciest carnรฉ asada we have ever eaten! ๐คค lol. First off, it has cute decor soon as ypu walk in the door, and then, the dude at the counter greets every one that came in very warm and fun. Second, it is set up like a Chipotle at the counter where you can see all the fixings for the different entrees right there behind glass shields, but their menu here is Closer, easier to read, And they have way more options than that other place! And all of the ingredients are Much tastier than Chipotle for sure! I do not favor that other place as it has that "white washed Mexican food" thing going on, yuk for me. Now This place, more authentic, Yummy! We got the nacho fries, (fries are not Mexican food no, but the toppings all are indeed, and all Delicioso! Lol). Their aquacatรฉ, (guacamole), perfect! We also got a big ol burrrito and all ingredients were Fabulous! ๐๐ฝ๐ They even have their version of elotรฉs, which I will for sure try next time! And classic, Mexicano drinks such as Jamaica and Horchata! Yumm again! ๐๐๐ฝ We just cannot wait to go back and Highly...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is what $22 got me, plus a drink. I'm a picky eater, I understand that my burrito bowls will be smaller since I don't load it with veggies. But $22 for this?!?!
For $22 I could have gone to Chipotle and gotten the more food but also chips and queso on the side as well as my drink.
Plus the employee seemed annoyed that I didn't want veggies and since I asked for the chipotle ranch and beans on the side. I said I didn't want nothing else and he kept asking about each option and I had to keep saying no until I repeated I said I don't want anything else, I'm a picky eater.
He charged a guy at the restaurant the same time as me 50 cents for a Styrofoam takeout container.. So I'm sure he charged me more than that for the 2 small bowls to put the ranch and beans in. ๐
I will never be back here. Right after eating this my stomach started to hurt and I'm having serious stomach issues...
