After all the reviews we really wanted to love it, but unfortunately there were some pretty awful things that were difficult to overlook.
First, we sat for 11 minutes before a server came to say hello and get our drink order. I was on the verge of getting up to leave. We arrived at 5:00 pm on Friday and there were only 3 other tables sat when we got there. During our entire visit our waiter only came 3 times. And we noticed ALL of the waitstaff and hostess played on their phones constantly. Completely unacceptable. If you want to look at your phone at least go to the back to check it or out of sight. Not standing in front of guests.
The food was mixed. We started with the sushi app and my wife liked it pretty well. We shared a Cesar salad that was not bad, but needed something. I had the lasagna which was pretty good, my wife had the bolognese which was just ok. The noodles on my lasagna were cooked well, my wife’s noodles were mushy baby food. Also, I asked for a little more of the béchamel that came on mine and my wife requested more ricotta that came on hers. They brought us roughly a tablespoon of each and that was a $5.00 up charge. Ouch.
The restaurant has a nice look and maybe it was just an off night, but when there are so many great restaurants, there is absolutely zero reason to give 90 another chance. Our bill was over $70. We normally have 2 nice meals out a week and we will gladly spend $150+ on a great meal. This was not that.
Finally, it may have not been their fault, but inside the restaurant, not outside, inside- there was a seweresque smell. Definitely not appetizing.
To those about to dine, go elsewhere. Too many good places to waste time...
Read moreUpdate: 06/01/2019. Had the pleasure of visiting again today, after almost two years. Service is still great and food is magnificent. I absolutely recommend this place. It’s literally my favorite place to eat at in the whole state of North Carolina.
October 2018: I went last year. I am a born and raised italian, so ever since I moved to the United States a few years ago it has been very difficult to find a place that comes close to the taste of home. I have been to supposedly traditional italian places in various states (including Little Italy in NYC!) but I have always been disappointed. Novanta 90 however really surprised me. Definitely the closest taste of home I can get around here. I got my favorite pizza which is prosciutto, arugula and pieces of Parmesan or grana padano cheese. So delicious! I definitely want to try the pasta next time I have the chance to go. The place is very cozy and warm, very well set up, and the service is very good as well. My waitress was extremely nice and attentive and she also gave me some samples before I ordered, since she saw I was skeptical about the ingredients being used! I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a true...
Read moreMy wife and I went here tonight hoping to enjoy the great Italian food that we see people standing in line and making reservations for. My wife had been here before for lunch to an ok experience, and she just thought, "eh, maybe an off day." Our drinks were good, I got a draft beer and she got a bellini. For dinner, she ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, and the best way I can describe it is over cooked noodles with Stouffers meat sauce. It tasted like it had practically been microwaved. I ordered the P&A pizza, and it came out with a very doughy crust and prosciutto that tasted like precut Hillshire farms deli meat. It also clearly wasn't cooked on the pizza, but instead was added to the pizza afterwards. I've never left an Italian restaurant hungry, but I guess there's a first for everything. Overall, the check was $55 and this felt like a bit much. One thing I can compliment them on is the service. The waitresses were perfectly attentive and everyone was quite welcoming and friendly. With all the other pizza/Italian restaurants around Mooresville/LKN, this experience with these prices make Novanta a place we would not consider...
