We visited today. We figured we could get ice cream to-go and enjoy it outside on this beautiful day, but between customers sitting at tables right on either side of the door (there were open tables elsewhere) when I walked inside, the folks who came in after me and stood right behind me (there are no signs asking people to leave space or directing traffic flow), the three unmasked employees, and the congested traffic flow in a tight space all clustered by the door, it ended up being unnecessary exposure to unmasked people that is not worth it for us. We have an immune compromised member of our household and are intentional to minimize risk when we can. I am not posting this to debate the science of masks or COVID. Owners of businesses are going to enforce policies or not as is their choice. Those of us with immune compromised family members are going to make the best decisions we can to keep our loved ones safe as we must. I am posting this so that other people in our situation can make informed decisions and have the information that we wish we would have had. Had we read this in the reviews and known this business doesn't have their employees wear masks or help customers to space themselves out and reduce contact with one another, we simply would have gone elsewhere. I understand that this doesn't matter to some people, but it matters to us, and it matters to others we know who live with chronic health conditions in this particular moment. Next time, we will go back to Whit's, which is an exit south in Davidson. If you also have an immune compromised family member, that's a safer alternative for now. They are masking and directing traffic flow. There's also...
Read moreWould have gave 5 stars if I wasnât asked for a tip when I visit. Iâm already paying for the ice cream, I shouldnât be asked to pay for employee salaries either đ Stop asking your customers for tips. Just ring us up and let us pay. Itâs tacky business.
Reply: Implying that you rely on tips to keep your costs down is ridiculous. Leave a tip jar or find another way to ask for tip VS turning the screen around and watching the customer to see if they tip or not. It's a method of pressure... I've seen other places use this tactic also and it's very tacky business. What exactly am I tipping for? Are you paying cheap wages and hoping to compensate more from tips? Where are the tips going? I think if your employees were not getting paid enough they'd find another job. With all due respect, find another way to request tip from your patrons. Some people don't like the pressure and your employees are staring at the screen checking to see if we tip or not. They can ring it up themselves and offer a less passive aggressive...
Read moreI decided to try a new ice-cream spot besides Brusters. I get there and a family of 5 walks in behind me. They got acknowledged first eventhough I enter first. That's not what upset me. First, this was my furst time trying this location. I felt rush and after looking over there selections. I decided to just go simple with a double chocolate on a sugar cone. Instead she hands me a double chocolate on a cake cone then apologies. She did offer to change it ,but how? Without putting the ice-cream back or throwing it away? Anyway I tipped 2.00 the ice-cream was 5.00 and wrapped in a paper towel with the ice cream melting as I was receiving it from her hand. After a couple of licks the name doesn't match the ice cream which taste like a basic chocolate nothing to brag about. I got sick of fighting with a mess and threw it away. A waste of 7.00. Thanks...
