Ally’s Comfort Cafe is THE place to go to for a small, hometown feeling diner with great service and food.
First time here, coming in about 20 minutes after its morning opening time, I walked in to find about 3 tables filled and more staff (4 upfront and at least 1-2 more in back) than I would expect to see in such a sized establishment. I treated myself to a solo, leisurely breakfast here, and was delighted to find a place that felt extremely clean, well run, with great food and excellent service.
The menu is just what anyone would need, full of breakfast and lunch staples (sans the type of things like avocado toast and chia seed pudding that you would see at places like First Watch). Besides a traditional egg and home fries breakfast, I had a side of the homemade corned beef hash and it was great! The only thing missing from here that I wish they had was freshly made oatmeal. (Ally- Hope you will include this one day!). And, boy, are they super quick in preparing everything to order. You certainly won’t have to worry about any slow service that will keep you looking at your watch.
During my lengthy time at this diner (as I said, I was having a leisurely breakfast), the place became 90-95% packed with at least 4 other parties greeted by my main server, Cindy, by their first names and with well wishes to their family members who weren’t present. That’s the hospitality and hometown feel you just don’t sense anymore these days but at local gems like Ally’s Comfort Cafe. Cindy, herself, is a gem. Her positivity came through with every exchange and, at such an early hour, it surely helped me to realize I should appreciate the day and lift others around me up with the same type of energy and positivity. Thus, I started by telling Jeremy, who I thought was the manager, how impressed I was with the service there. Turned out he’s not the manager but another very attentive staff member, ready to open the door for anyone he believes may be on their way in or out, and helping the wait staff in any way he can as well. I learned from him that Ally is actually the cook here… Thanks, Ally, for a great breakfast and all the wonderful service from your staff!
I will surely be back here and look forward to...
Read moreI will be avoiding this restaurant never to return but really felt the need to provide a warning to potential customers. When you walk in the ceiling is disgusting, the tiles are stained from multiple leaks and the others are discolored a brownish yellow, especially over the area where the servers bring out the food. Looks like they got the ceiling tiles from a smoky bar. As soon as I bit into the turkey sandwich I could taste a foul pungent smell. I looked inside and the meat was brownish, grayish yellow with an iridescent sheen. The bacon was rubbery. The pickle was mushy and had become translucent. The server was very sick and was coughing a lot in the dining room, coughing and then delivering the plates of food, no hand washing observed.
The price on the check was higher than the menu price, they need to update the menu, it said the cost was $10.95 but they charged $11.35. The printed check/bill/receipt says that the price is the "discounted cash price and non-cash payments will incur an additional 3.5% card fee" although it doesn't appear they charged an additional fee on top of the overpriced rotten sandwich. No one asked if the food was enjoyable and they didn't care that the sandwich was being returned half uneaten, I was only asked if I wanted a box. The menu says "Our turkey is the real deal", I cant get that nasty turkey flavor out of my mouth.

Read moreHello Phil, thank you for the feedback. We will visit again soon and make sure to ask for you. Good luck!
Yes - it was completely terrible service, you do not tell a party of 8 with elderly people, especially, that you have a table and then turn around and tell them that you can not accommodate them after they had been waiting. NOBODY told us that you were setting up a table for us, all we were told was that we could not be accommodated. There was NO misunderstanding, we left because your hostess said that you could not accommodate us - what were we suppose to do at that point? Listen, yeah, you apologized the next day, but that does not excuse what transpired the day of my mom's birthday. And no, I don't want a meal for just my mom and me, we are a family and we went out to eat together, I am not leaving them out - lousy offer for a store owner to offer a meal for 2, when she denied 8 of us service.
TERRIBLE service. We visited Ally's for my mom's birthday, a party of 8. Since my husband and I have frequented Ally's, we knew this was just the place to take mom and our family. Being that we know it is a small place, I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate our large party - and they said yes. After waiting 40 minutes for a table, the hostess came outside and told us that they could not accommodate my family (party of 8) YES, we were turned away after waiting 40 minutes. To make matters worse, I called and spoke with Ally, who said that her staff set the table for us and we left - that is A COMPLETE LIE - again, we were told they could not accommodate our party, THAT is why we left. Never going...
