Char-Hut is a small chain of fast service restaurants owned by the Cammisa family who founded Char Hut in 1976. The family started the business over 40 years ago when they opened their first restaurant in Miami after moving to Florida from Buffalo. The family closed the Miami restaurant in favor of moving to southwest Broward. They specialize in hamburgers and chicken. Unlike other fast food places you can tell them how well you want your burger meat cooked and you can customize it with different toppings. The food is cooked to order. This place is an institution and you can't hang around this long in the South Florida restaurant scene unless you offer quality food. I have eaten at Char-Hut many times through the years and if you go inside you come out smelling like the grill. It is a breeze to order from the drive though and that is what I usually do. This was my first time visiting the Davie location which opened way back in 2003. You can find the restaurant along the side of State Rd. 84. I ordered the Char-Burger with cheese, which is the original 1/3 lb steak burger and I added a side of fries and a soda. The service was super friendly here and the food was great which I always expect from Char-Hut. It definitely satisfied my cheeseburger craving. I love that this is the kind of place where you don't have to beg for ketchup. They cheerfully offer it without you even having to ask. Count me among the Char-Hut fans.

Food was pretty good. I liked the the char flavor on the burger. I ordered my burger medium and got it well. I also noticed a small difference in the way I was received. The ladies in front of me got a grilled chicken sandwich and when the order was finished they were asked if they wanted anything else. That wasn’t the case for me. To add it was my initial visit here so I was looking at the menu before I can order on the opposite side of the register for when I was ready. The older man cooking told me there was a menu at the register to come over. No problem did that. I ordered the salted caramel milkshake which was small and it was really good. Then the cowboy burger combo. On a Kaiser roll. Also they only do a American cheddar. With the combo I ordered Messy Fries. The person charged me for my combo plus the full price of the Messy fries and I only received messy fries. I guess there are no customizations. The cashier didn’t let me know that I couldn’t customize the meal either. While I was waiting for my order a person came an ordered a strawberry milkshake and they asked if he would like whip! Wait hold up so I guess I’m not worthy of whip now. Food was good vibes were bad. I don’t know if I would go back. It felt like there are race issues. The food was rated here not the service.

Char Hut is a classic burger joint that has been serving up delicious burgers since 1976 when it first opened in Miami. I've been going since 1980 with my family! Today, the small chain boasts an impressive selection of fry options, including sweet potato, chili, and cheese fries. But the real star of the show are the onion rings, which are some of the best I've ever had. When it comes to the burgers, Char Hut definitely delivers. They offer a variety of options, from classic cheeseburgers to more elaborate creations you can create with all the complimentary toppings. And the best part? They cook their burgers to the temperature you like, so you can get your patty cooked just the way you want it. Everything at Char Hut is fresh and made to order, so you can be sure that you're getting a high-quality meal every time you visit. And the prices are reasonable, so you won't break the bank indulging in their delicious offerings. If you're looking for a classic burger joint with a great selection of fries and some seriously tasty onion rings, Char Hut is definitely worth checking out.

Prices are terrible and the food was not seasoned. I saw in a photo of the menu here on their Google listing that the burgers were $8 which is why we went. If the photos are old they need to delete them. We got there and waited in line and it was $15 for a burger, $8 for a hot dog. $9 for a “large” side of onion rings that was maybe a small palm-sized handful, a half a cup at most. I can’t imagine how little the “small” would be at $5, maybe a tablespoon of onion rings?? The fries had no salt and no seasoning on them. The hotdog had sugar or cinnamon or something in it, or maybe the relish has corn syrup, but it was so sweet it tasted like a desert. Also the hot dog was cold in the middle. It cost us $40 for a burger, a hot dog, and a small handful each of unseasoned fries and onion rings, no drinks. No sauces, napkins, or utensils in the bag. Very, very stingy place. The onion ring on the burger was a frozen Restaurant Depot, completely different from the side of onion rings, so it makes me feel like the food is fried from frozen and not fresh or made there, just reheated there. The older woman at the register also sounded completely miserable when she talked to us so I assume they’re not treating their employees well if she was that unhappy. It was not during a rush hour and we were friendly and quick when ordering.

I could forgive the food being completely unseasoned/flavorless if it was priced normally, OR the really high prices if the food was good, OR the unhappy employee if the food was either tasty or reasonably priced, but not all...

NOT HAPPY! yesterday on 4/6/23 around 4, i went through the drive through & ordered a char hut cheese burger, fries & a coke. I don’t mind paying $18 for food if it’s good, because that’s what I paid here. MY burger & all my lettuce was covered in oil & black slime from a dirty grill…. It has a distinct flavor & it even seeped into my bun. The kind of slime that separates like oil & vinegar. The kind of grease you scrape into the little hole in the corner of the grill. There was NO ONE THERE BUT ME & 2 others. So what was the rush? 2 cars were parked out front & I was alone in the drive through. I THINK the cook could have used a bit more care & COMMON SENSE with his spatula when he pulled my burger off & threw it on my bun. More care like LEAVE THE SLIME BEHIND. Grills get scraped & cleaned constantly while cooking. damnnnn. I would have been happier yesterday with a BK whopper or a Bic Mac & richer, I kid you not. Im not going to slam you with 1 STAR because I know the labor shortages or MAYBE someone had a bad day over there. It happens.

Your grill man should wash dishes!

If it was $7.99 meal yesterday that would be one thing, I wouldn’t be here now.

How long was that oil sitting in your griddle before you gave me a mouth full?

I’m not coming back to CH. Times are tough. 1 negative is 5000 times stronger than one positive’ in one’s brain. I can’t afford $18 for a burger meal as bad as this anyways & I won’t chance it.

NO Thanks ~ daniel Twin Rivers AC & Refrigeration Inc. still 5...
