I’m extremely disappointed in what Round Up has become. I’ve been coming here since before I was 18 — I’m now 38 — so for over 20 years, this place has been part of my life. Unfortunately, the experience has drastically changed, and not for the better.
Over the past year, I’ve stopped in several times, hoping it would feel like it used to. Each time has been a disappointment — with the one exception being when Kenny was the DJ. I gave Kenny a list of songs, many of which are more than 20 years old, and he played nearly every one. The dance floor was full, and the energy was incredible. People were excited and engaged — that is the Round Up I remember.
Now, it’s rare that I get to do more than one or two line dances in a night. Despite being a country western bar, the majority of music played is either rap or Spanish music — not country. The atmosphere has changed, and so has the crowd. It no longer feels like the community it once was.
The new DJ is absolutely awful — and rude. I walked up with a short list of five songs and politely asked if he could play just one. He barely acknowledged me, too busy flirting with someone in the booth to respond. I waited over two hours, and not a single request was played. He continued playing rap and Spanish music all night. Not one country song. Not one line dance. This isn’t what Round Up used to stand for.
18+ nights should be limited to once a week. All other nights should be 21+ to bring back the right crowd and energy. I’m not sure if ownership or management has changed, but it’s clear this place is no longer about country music or line dancing. It’s really sad to see.
I truly hope someone steps in to restore Round Up to the country western bar it once was — with real country music (including ‘90s country!), a respectful DJ, and a focus on dancing and community. Or better yet, that someone builds a new bar that brings back everything Round...

First let's talk about the food since I didn't see many reviews. We are from out of town and wanted to eat. There are very few bars I feel safe to eat their food. Our waitress, Ashley, stated the food is very good and made some recommendations. We ordered the Cobb salad and blackened Mahi Mahi (fresh catch of the day). We were surprised. The food was good. Wife didn't eat the egg on the Cobb salad just because she didn't want to push her luck. They had many items on the food menu and would definitely recommend eating here.
Now for why we came here. We are from Houston and I wanted to dance to some country western music. This place didn't disappoint. The only problem was it was 90% line dancing. I don't line dance! Well maybe once. Early in the evening (before 10p) we were about to dance on the outside of the dance floor. After 10p, it was packed! I never seen so many people line dancing to so many songs. Everybody looked to be having a good time.
If you are new to line dancing, call and find out when they offer lessons. They had lessons at 8p the night we were there.
It reminded me of Big Texas in Houston. There are all ages and races mingling on the dance floor. Loved it! Even if you don't dance, it is a great place to people watch.
2 Thumbs Up...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of Round Up since I turned 21 which has been many years, following the closure of Cowboys. This bar holds a special place in my heart, offering a similar vibe to Cowboys that I've come to love. I truly cherish this establishment.
The bartenders, Amanda and Hannah, are exceptional. They not only serve drinks but also make an effort to remember your favorite drink and greet you with warmth and kindness every time you walk in. Their personalized service adds a special touch to each visit.
The DJ sets the perfect tone on Wednesdays and Fridays with a fantastic mix of country and hip-hop music – my two favorite genres. It creates an inviting atmosphere that keeps me coming back for more.
What I love most about Round Up is the sense of community. It feels like a close-knit family where everyone is welcome. Whether you're catching up with old friends or making new ones while learning new dances, there's always a friendly face around.
I even met my boyfriend at Round Up, and we've been together for a while now. I'm grateful to Round Up for bringing us together, as we share a mutual love for country music and line dancing.
Even if you're not a die-hard country music fan, I highly recommend giving Round Up a try. It offers a unique experience that sets it apart from other country bars. You'll find yourself feeling right at...
