Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West Hotel is a 5 Star Hotel with 5 Star Staff. Specifically: Jasmine (a Marriott bonvoy telephone representative) Amanda (a Renaissance manager) Sulony, Kiran & Daniel (hotel staff not sure of their position) & Chris (Renaissance Regional manager) This hotel was amazingly helpful from day one. My family and I were returning from a cruise and had reservations at a different hotel (Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Plantation) we needed to add a day to our stay. After speaking with an employee on the phone that said they would add the day and we could check in early no problem. Upon arrival to check in the front desk told us the person on the phone was wrong & did not update the reservation and they were unable to accommodate us. It is now just after 10pm on a Saturday and we were stuck trying to call places. Everywhere was fully booked by now! Luckily we connected with Jasmine a Marriott bonvoy phone representative and after hearing what happened she searched to help find my family a place to stay with urgency and compassion. She even took the time to give us the veterans discount. Upon arriving at the Renaissance we felt welcomed and the check in was smooth. The room was clean & fresh. We reserved the room for 6/22-6/24. On the evening of 6/23 we returned to the hotel and my kids wanted to go to the pool and being it was open till 9pm I took them. Upon returning to our room I found my husband passed out on the floor suffering from a medical emergency! My kids (9 & 11) ran down to the lobby and a staff member called 911 for them! Within moments Amanda (manager on duty) and another staff member were in my room helping me try to wake my husband up and keep me calm and informed of the ambulance being on it's way. Amanda seemed to have some medical knowledge and they both were extremely patient and helpful with me & my husband. An additional staff member stayed in the lobby with my kids gave them snacks and helped to keep them away from the situation (their young eyes did not need to see). I can not thank the staff enough for helping take control of the situation & I'm extremely grateful for how they came to help immediately. My husband was transported to the hospital via the ambulance & I went with him. My sister stayed at the room with the kids. The following morning we went to check out and Chris (Regional manager on duty) offered myself & the kids the continental breakfast (for free) and helped my sister load our luggage into the car. He took the time to ask how my husband was & wanted to make sure we were taken care of, he provided his card and said if we needed anything to let him know and he would help as much as possible. All of the staff that helped us were genuinely concerned and showed so much compassion. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Amanda (she said my family was on her mind and she just had to check on us & she called from her personal phone) Amanda actually reached out several times as well as Daniel. As I said before I can not thank/praise this staff enough and I'm eternally grateful to them for their genuine concern & compassion towards my family & I. This hotel and staff definitely deserves FIVE STARS!!! If I could give them a million...

She apologized for the state the room we originally received was in, and confirmed that it’s not the standard they like to maintain. Overall Michelle made it right and I am very happy with the outcome. I have updated my review from 1 star to 4. The room we were moved to had absolutely nothing wrong with it, we checked the water and bathroom once we got in. We also confirmed the phone worked and called down to get some extra pillows. Thank you again, Michelle. You are an asset to the Marriott and we appreciate you helping us out.
We’re currently staying here. For $150 all you get is the room, wifi is additional, PARKING IS ADDITIONAL. $12/a night!!! When I booked it said parking was included for free. I was going to wait to write a review after our stay, but this morning really pushed me to write it early. The front desk staff is friendly. The room had no hot water, we ran the shower in the morning for 10+ min and it was luke warm at best, never truly warmed. The water never drained, when I lifted the “drain cover” to see if it was possibly obstructed I saw the drain cover was covered in mold. When I went to call down to inform them that there was no hot water, to my suprise the phone also didn’t work. It was plugged in but no dial tone, unable to dial 0. We were rushing because my mother was having a procedure next door at the hospital which is literally the ONLY reason we chose to stay here. After we got my mother checked in for surgery we came back to hopefully have a nice breakfast. The breakfast was decent, BUT IT WAS $56 for 2 people!! We were brought only 1 glass of orange juice and was never offered a refill. Gratuity was included already as well, which was a little crazy for someone who literally only brought me 1 glass of OJ and never came back. I would say save your money and stay else where. Waiting to speak to the manager. We switched rooms after I insisted, they were just going to send an engineer up to see what’s wrong- to which I said yes please do that but after we are out of the room. Fix that on your own time, not mine. Very...
Read moreI stayed at the Renaissance hotel for a business trip to Fort Lauderdale. The staff was very friendly I liked that when I approached the front desk the staff member instantly moved to the lower desk to assist me. The lobby was brightly lit and nice decor, and I was able to navigate well in my wheelchair . The elevators were a nice size, and the carpet wasn't to thick and easy to roll on to get to my room. The door was a little heavy and my son struggles a little to open it, however once inside I loved the hard wood floors and open room layout. I could navigate easily in the room and bathroom. The view was really nice, and I liked that the curtains operated with a remote control.
We checked with just enough time to order dinner before the kitchen closed. The meal was tasty and gave us large portions. I had the shrimp and grits while my son had a burger & fries. Since the kitchen had such short hours the next day we ordered lunch through DoorDash. It seems that many people order food this was, so it as easy to get our meal without problem and at it downstair in the lounge area. My son approved of the music that was playing in the lobby too. The only snapfu was the alarm went off on 02/15 in the morning saying there was an emergency situation on my floor. We were instructed to go to the nearest stairway to evacuate the building, however I am on the 9th floor and in a wheelchair. My son and I got dressed and proceeded to the stairs. Before we could push the emergency intercom button a staff member appeared. Once he saw I was in a wheelchair he immediately contacted other staff members to see what the problem was, and how to proceed to evac me from the hotel. We were never left alone and pretty quickly the situation was investigated and determined it was a malfunction of some sort and I was cleared to go back to my room. The staff we encountered from the front desk to the individuals that cleaned our room was so kind and helpful, which made our stay nice. If I am back for another business trip I would happily...
