I recently ordered from Lucky Star and was very disappointed with both the food and customer service. I ordered a quart of shrimp fried rice and a chicken wing dinner with shrimp fried rice. The rice itself tasted old and stale—very firm, like it had either been overcooked or had been sitting for days. Definitely not fresh. I was surprised to find several upcharges: $1.50 extra just to add egg to the shrimp fried rice. $2 extra to add shrimp to the dinner rice. $0.75 extra for a spring roll instead of an egg roll—because I don’t eat pork, and the egg rolls contain pork. I explained over the phone that I don’t eat pork and asked to substitute the egg roll with a spring roll. I felt this should’ve been accommodated without an extra charge since the egg roll was essentially going to waste. Instead, I was told it couldn’t be done unless I paid more. When I arrived at the restaurant and expressed my frustration, the person there simply said I “could’ve asked for more rice.” Why wasn’t that option offered over the phone, when I asked for a better alternative in the first place? There was zero flexibility or consideration for dietary preferences. I understand policies, but it’s disappointing that a customer can’t receive a simple, fair substitution—especially when I’m already being charged for multiple add-ons. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Between the stale food, excessive upcharges, and lack of customer care, this experience was not worth the cost.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to follow up. I’ve been living in Davie for the past 10 years and have tried several Chinese food restaurants in the area. I’ve been a loyal customer of your establishment for at least the last eight years. Unfortunately, my most recent order was by far the worst experience I’ve had from your restaurant, which is disappointing given the consistency I had come to expect. As I mentioned in my review, I did try to express my concerns while placing the order over the phone, specifically about not being able to eat pork and requesting extra rice. I was told extra rice was not an option at the time, and it was never offered to me as a substitution. Even if it had been, receiving extra rice with only 6 to 8 shrimp would not have made the meal worth it. I understand that your restaurant uses New York-style recipes, and I do appreciate regional differences in cuisine. However, my issue wasn’t with the flavor—it was with the quality and lack of accommodation. The food simply did not reflect the standard I’ve come to expect from your restaurant. I do appreciate the offer of a discount if I choose to give it another try, but I wanted to be honest about my disappointment. Thank you again for your time and your...
Read moreI ordered Sweet & Sour Pork Dinner Combo with Pork Fried Rice & Egg Roll from this restaurant today via Uber Eats. I had specifically requested utensils as I don't have any at the lodging where I'm staying. However, I didn't receive that and had to go back downstairs to the lodging desk to procure one. I did receive everything else on the order. (NOTE: This is the 2nd UE Order from the local area that I didn't receive what was ordered including Utensils). Their Delivery Rcpt had the Uber Price for the meal. A quick check of their menu online demonstrated that I had paid about $7 over & above their typical price excluding tax & delivery driver tips. Perhaps this small oversight & ensuing inconvenience misplaces the value of a customer paying such a premium for their food.
But this happening twice on local area Uber Eats Orders suggests a trend worth calling attention to.
The food came quickly. The Egg Roll was tasty. The Sweet & Sour sauce and the Pork left something to be desired. And, finally the fried rice garnished with slivers of pork being passed off as Pork Fried Rice was outright objectionable. I've gotten more pork in a salad with bacon bits than this pork fried rice! I had to hunt for the pork within the rice to find any! That pig got...
Read moreWe’ve been looking for a good Chinese restaurant since our favorite had closed when the owners retired. I was hopeful with this one, but it was not it. The food just wasn’t good. It was bland and the meat was kind of gross. Good Szechuan Chicken has red bean sauce which is very flavorful and spicy. They also forgot the egg rolls which was $6.00. If the food was good, I wouldn’t have been so aggravated by it. I live in Sunrise which I just got home with hot food and the restaurant is back down in Davie. I asked if they could deliver it and they said it would be a long time like this is my problem. I sent somebody down there to get them. To there credit, they gave us three extra egg rolls, but they weren’t good egg rolls. It just wasn’t a good...
